MoCo's Community Advocacy Institute creates more capacity for county residents to participate in government. This week's MD-08 Local Heroes, CAI graduate Datrina Davis and Board Chair Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, shared more about this great program.
After scapegoating the LGBTQ+ community, Trump & RFK Jr. are now cutting off a lifeline that’s helped nearly 1.3 million LGBTQ+ young people get the mental health support they need. That’s dangerous.
The 988 Suicide and Crisis Prevention Lifeline included a service that provided specialized suicide prevention support by phone and text for LGBTQ+ kids. That's ending.
On Juneteenth, we commemorate the news of emancipation finally reaching America's last enslaved people, and we recommit to fighting to deliver the true promise of America for all, even against right-wing backlash.
The Supreme Court’s decision is an affront to equal protection and parental control over medical decision-making. Transgender young people and their families shouldn't have to fight to make the most personal medical decisions in consultation with their doctors.
NEWS: Ranking Member Raskin releases a new Committee staff analysis exposing how Trump’s corrupt pardon spree of nearly 1,600 criminals deprives victims of $1.3 BILLION in restitution and fines owed to them and American taxpayers.
Trump’s pardons of white-collar fraudsters, GOP ripoff artists & unrepentant cop-beaters cheated the victims & taxpayers out of $1.3 BILLION in restitution & fines. Not content to steal from the poor to give to the rich, Trump’s now stealing from victims to give to criminals.
Today I’m leading 152 House Democrats in challenging Trump's devastating cuts to life-saving NIH research grants. Congress—not Trump—controls federal spending. Trump must do his job, “faithfully execute” the laws and stop violating the Constitution to undercut public health.
My district team was honored to host Council President Kate Stewart and her amazing staff to share effective constituent service strategies. Thank you, Council President Stewart!
Americans reeling from Trump’s yo-yo economic policies need some accountability and honesty. My Truth in Tariffs Act will show Americans how much Trump’s tariffs are actually costing us. We have a right to know.
Congress should pass the bipartisan BARK Act, my bill to save millions of pounds of perfectly good pet food from the trash and get it to the growing population of hungry shelter dogs and cats. We can do this. Let’s get it done.
When Congress funded the DOD, there was no line item for big-boy birthday presidential military parades. Where did the money for Trump’s vainglorious spectacle come from? Cutting Army pay and benefits? Reducing training? Or just Departmental slush funds from bloated annual budgets?
Our able men and women in uniform swear an Oath to support the Constitution—they didn’t sign up to spend the weekend in a military parade to feed the insatiable narcissism of an incorrigible insurrectionist/dictator.
In a Gangster State, the dear leader wastes other people's money on military parades to broadcast his fake strength, attacks the legislative branch and destroys programs that benefit the people.
Masked agents in unmarked cars disappearing people from the street and shipping them to a dictator’s prison. Executive branch officials blowing off federal court orders, wrestling members of Congress to the ground and handcuffing them for asking a question. Smells like fascism.
In America, we have no Kings, no Queens, no nobles, no dictators, and no emperors. We have no slaves, no serfs and no subjects. Just us—‘We the People.’
Nightmare in Minnesota: A gunman shot State Senator John Hoffman & State Rep. Melissa Hortman. Political violence is a lethal threat to our freedom & democracy. Let’s keep the nonviolent movements of American history close in our hearts today & pray for these public servants.
