Bernard Sanders

Bernard "Bernie" Sanders is an American politician and activist serving as the senior United States senator from Vermont, a seat he has held since 2007. He is the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, but maintains a close relationship with the Democratic Party, having caucused with House and Senate Democrats for most of his congressional career and sought the party's presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020. Sanders has been viewed as one of the main leaders of the modern American progressive movement.

Lincoln talked about a government of the people, by the people, for the people. Today, with Trump as our president, we have a government of the billionaires, by the billionaires, for the billionaires.
Cutting off humanitarian aid to millions of civilians is a war crime. That is exactly what the extremist Netanyahu government is doing now to Palestinians in Gaza. I’ve introduced resolutions to block billions in offensive arms sales to Israel & will demand votes on these bills.
Mr. Musk plans to layoff 83,000 workers at the VA. That means lower quality care for our vets. Unacceptable. I agree with the VFW: The VA must “reconsider its planned reduction of 83,000 employees & thoroughly review any proposed cuts prior to rolling out further announcements.”
Elon Musk's plan to cut the Social Security Administration's staff by 50% would cause 37,000 more Americans to die each year waiting to receive their disability benefits while the average wait time to collect these benefits would jump to 412 days. That is beyond unacceptable.
The massive income and wealth inequality that exists in America today is literally a matter of life and death. People in wealthy counties live SEVEN years longer than people in poorer communities. That’s unacceptable. EVERYONE has the right to a long, happy and productive life.
I have talked to veterans all over the country. They’re not happy that, when the VA is already understaffed, Musk wants to dismember the VA by laying off 83,000 employees. A commitment has been made to those who put their lives on the line to defend us. We must not betray them.
Trump and Musk are going after Social Security, Medicaid, the VA, and public education. In what universe, in what world, in what religion is it morally acceptable to cut programs for hungry children in order to reward the wealthy?
Musk says millions of dead people get Social Security. That's a lie. Here's the truth: 30,000 people die a year waiting for an understaffed Social Security to approve disability benefits. Musk's plan to cut Social Security's staff by 50% will make this tragic reality even worse.
Musk and Trump are working feverishly to cut Social Security, Medicaid, the VA, public education, nutrition and other programs. Why? So Musk and other billionaires can get a huge tax break. Together, we’re not going to let them get away with that.

When Trump effectively shuts down the NLRB, corporate bosses can illegally fire workers who are trying to form a union and flagrantly violate labor laws. Today, I am reintroducing the PRO Act to strengthen unions, and restore power and legal rights to workers.
