Americans are struggling to pay their utility bills this winter, as the average cost of energy reaches about $976 per month. Families in my district can’t afford these electricity payments but also cannot risk power shutoffs in freezing temperatures.

Within King County, areas along the Snoqualmie and Tolt Rivers are likely to face flood-related road closures, while low-lying areas near the Green River and Kent and Auburn valley are monitoring elevated water levels.
Atmospheric river flooding continues to impact Western Washington, and is expected to continue through Friday. As water levels rise quickly and local communities ramp up emergency response efforts, it's important to be prepared.
