I'm here in Washington D.C. looking for Republicans to negotiate with, but they're not here. Trump will negotiate with Hamas, Putin, and North Korea but won't negotiate with Democrats.
I joined 167 of my colleagues on a bipartisan, bicameral letter to demand that OMB Director Vought support the 2.2 million federal employees, including the 78,252 in Washington State, and give them their duly deserved paychecks when the government reopens.
The law is clear: all impacted government employees are entitled to back pay after a government shutdown ends.
My Democratic colleagues and I remain ready to work today to reopen the government with a bipartisan agreement that protects health care and delivers real solutions for the American people. It’s time for Republicans to put politics aside, come back to the table, and do their jobs.

The fight over health care is incredibly important, but his shutdown battle is about more than just health care. President Trump has abused the living crap out of his power, and if we don't rein him in, our republic is at risk.
