I spoke with Seattle Times on Saturday night about the strikes on Iran. An excerpt below:
“First of all, I think this is a horrible mistake. President Trump just decided to start a war on Iran,” U.S. Rep. Adam Smith, D-Bellevue, said in an interview Saturday night.

It’s always important to call your elected representatives and let your voice be heard.
I was proud to join the Atlantic Street Center at their Juneteenth Celebration in Seattle. It was great to see you all and celebrate this day.
I joined King 5 last night to talk about tensions in the Middle East.
We need to aggressively regulate corporations to lower costs for the American people, especially after President Trump's reckless tariffs.
I spoke about the state of our economy at my Virtual Town Hall.
Congratulations to all the graduates on their achievement and I appreciate you allowing me to be a part of this celebration.
This investment has introduced South King County students to the wide variety of high wage, high demand jobs that are in the maritime and marine sciences industry.
In 2022, I secured a $1.05 million dollar federal investment for Maritime High School a unique, project-based school focused on the maritime industry and marine sciences.
I had the privilege of speaking at the Maritime High School’s graduation ceremony for their first graduating class.
Today is Juneteenth, a day to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States when Union troops finally freed those in Galveston, Texas. We must continue to work for equality and justice for all.
The horrific violence in Minnesota is yet another of example of how anger and vitriol has grown dangerous in our representative democracy.
@repkimschrier.bsky.social and I hosted a Maternal Health Roundtable in Auburn to talk about how federal funding cuts would negatively impact the health of women and families in our districts. Thanks for the conversation.
The Trump administration’s proposed cuts to Medicaid would greatly reduce access to maternal health in our districts, despite many women needing this care now more than ever.
I had the opportunity to meet the Ninth District’s Military Academy appointees, who will be representing Washington at the Air Force Academy and the United States Naval Academy. Congratulations to Ivan, Trudy, Jack and Liam and thank you for your service.
As one of the most expensive cities in the nation, Seattle needs to fund more affordable housing. I've introduced legislation that would decrease construction costs and cut through the complex permitting process.
Today, my office hosted a conversation with labor leaders to discuss the right to organize, federal policies, and investments in workforce training and education programs to ensure all individuals have access to high quality job training. Thank you to all those who attended.
One of my most important priorities in Congress is to advocate for high quality jobs with good wages and benefits.

“The constant belittling of allies... threatening to use military force to take Greenland & Panama & annex Canada. All of the G7 have every reason to worry whether or not Donald Trump is truly going to work w/them & be a partner & an ally.”
