Democratic members of Congress converged on Chicago to conduct oversight of DHS’s unlawful and unconstitutional actions. We’re continuing to demand transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. Together, we must stand strong against Trump’s abuse of power.
Trump and Republicans have decided tearing down the White House to build a corporate ballroom is more important than lowering health care costs or paying federal workers. Democrats are here and ready to fight for everyday Americans, not billionaire donors. What happened to people over politics?
Breaking News: President Trump is having the White House’s entire East Wing demolished to make way for his $200 million ballroom. The project is far more extensive than he initially let on.
Just a reminder that Speaker Johnson is keeping the government shut down to stop the release of the Epstein files. Democrats stand ready to lower health costs, reopen the government, & deliver justice for Epstein's victims. Speaker Johnson must stop dodging scandals & start delivering solutions.
House Republicans stopped revising their legislative calendar back in July. So I updated it for them. Since July 4, the House has conducted 20 days of business in 16 weeks. Oct. 27-30 remains TBD.
Instead of working with Democrats to bring down costs, Republicans would rather keep the government shut down and side with their billionaire donors. This a direct attack on our seniors and we must speak out.
Medicare open enrollment begins today, but health insurance premiums and deductibles are skyrocketing because Trump and Republicans refuse to prioritize affordable health care.
TODAY IS THE BEGINNING OF MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT: PLEASE HELP: 1) CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN STILL EXISTS. 2) CHECK YOUR PART D RX PLAN AND COMPARE OTHER PLANS (TRUMP ADMIN. TOOK AWAY BIDEN SUBSIDIES FOR 2026) 3) REPOST THIS SO OTHERS CAN MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS. medicare.gov
Trump & Congressional Republicans have decided that using $20 billion of taxpayer funds to bail out Trump's friends in Argentina is more important than working with Democrats to reopen the government. Health insurance costs rising. Federal workers going unpaid. Food assistance programs running dry.
It says a lot that Trump can find $20 billion to bail out Argentina, but won't help the millions of Americans who are in real need at home. So much for “America First.”
Immigrants are and always have been what makes our country great. We will not be intimidated by the wannabe dictator in the White House, and we will not stand by as our community is ravaged. No human being is illegal.
Chicago lost an icon. Sister Jean embodied the heart and soul of Loyola and gave our city endless joy, wisdom, warmth, and unwavering faith. Her legacy will live on in every life she touched. May her memory be a blessing.
Loyola University Chicago is greatly saddened to confirm the death of Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, BVM. This is a tremendous loss of someone who touched the lives of so many people. We appreciate everyone’s thoughts & prayers during this difficult time. For more information: https://bit.ly/4o7eIUk
Speaker Johnson is so fearful of the Epstein files, he's willing to force our hardworking servicemembers to go without pay. Democrats are ready to work with Republicans to lower health care costs, reopen the government, and pay our servicemembers. This is on you, Speaker Johnson.
Republican C-SPAN caller to Mike Johnson: "As a Republican, I'm very disappointed in my party, and I'm very disappointed in you, because you have the power to call the House back. You refuse to do that just for a show."
Speaker Johnson is running from the Epstein files. Instead of keeping the government shut down to protect pedophiles, Republicans should come to the table with Democrats to lower health costs, reopen the government, & deliver justice for Epstein's victims. Speaker Johnson, ball’s in your court.
RAJU: You swore in 2 GOP members during pro forma session. Why not swear in Grijalva? Does it have to do w/her signature on Epstein petition? JOHNSON: It has nothing to do with that. We'll swear her in when everybody is back R: Why not now? J: Uh - we'll schedule it, I guess, as soon as she wants
My top priorities remain bringing the hostages home now, ending the violence once and for all, and bringing long-term peace, justice, and security to Israelis and Palestinians alike.
My heart aches for those who were killed on October 7th and their loved ones who mourn their loss; for the hostages and their families who have endured an incomprehensible suffering; and for the thousands of innocent Palestinian families caught in the ensuing war that have lost those dear to them.
The ICE raids taking place in our communities and the deployment of the National Guard to Chicago are not at all about public safety. They are about political theater. We will not let Trump get away with this. Not in Chicago. Not anywhere. Not now. Not ever.
We will not be bullied by a wannabe tyrant and his Republican lapdogs. I look forward to voting for a budget that extends health care tax credits and protects families from rising health insurance rates. Republicans know where to find us - our door is open.
