Donald Trump is demanding billions in personal payoffs from the federal government. It's taking abuse of taxpayer dollars to a whole new level. My Corruption Clawback Act would ensure that the government can get that money back when he leaves office.
Today, the Senate passed the ROAD to Housing Act, a bipartisan bill to expand the housing supply and make housing more affordable. I was proud to vote for this bill championed by @warren.senate.gov. The House must pass this vital reform without delay.
Can they explain that position to people in LA, Chicago, Portland, Minneapolis or anywhere else that has experienced such abuse practices? We certainly couldn't.
Senate Republicans just BLOCKED the bill @padilla.senate.gov and I called up to reopen FEMA today. Then they demanded we vote to give billions more ICE and CBP, without any reforms. None. 🧵
My heart is with the Temple Israel congregation as we witness another horrifying attack on the Jewish community. Antisemitic hate must have no place in our country. We must condemn it in the strongest terms.
He calls the Iran war — which has already killled 7 Americans and hundreds of civilians — "an excursion." And he’s spending tens of billions of dollars on it. Does that make your life great again yet?
Our disaster recovery efforts should not be held up by Republican's demands to give more money to ICE without any reforms. I'm headed to the floor with @padilla.senate.gov to reject that false choice and call up legislation to open FEMA today.
The Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision has allowed billionaires and big corporations to have an outsized influence on our elections. Our democracy is paying the price. We must keep fighting to get big money out of politics, and restore power to the American people.
Americans can barely afford their medicine, gas or groceries. And instead of trying to make life more affordable, the president is spending billions on a war of choice with Iran. We will use every tool we can to bring the war to an end.
Pam Bondi has failed to explain how her brother and his corporate clients continue to achieve unexpected and favorable outcomes in cases in which the Bondi Justice Department intervenes. @congressmin.bsky.social and I are urging the DOJ Inspector General to launch an investigation.
Why are we at war? Republicans won't even use the word 'war', let alone explain why it is worth risking the lives of our service members. I'm working to put members of the administration under oath so we can get answers.
I’m introducing a bill to ban bets on war and death in prediction markets. Betting on war and death creates an environment in which insiders can profit off of nonpublic information, our national security is jeopardized, and violence is encouraged. Congress must act.
Another alarm bell in this five alarm fire. Donald Trump is still trying to relitigate the 2020 election six years later. He wants to scare election officials and election workers ahead of the midterms. And he’s using the FBI to do it.
Democrats must use all leverage possible to try to stop Trump's illegal war in Iran. We're demanding public hearings. And will continue to force votes on the Senate floor. 🧵
Proud to have helped deliver more than $254 million in investments for projects across California this year. As a result, communities across the Golden State will see key funding to help build new housing, increase fire preparedness, and make critical infrastructure upgrades.
