I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the extraordinary first responders who battled these blazes through the night and have continued into the morning – charging into the inferno and putting their lives on the line to protect our communities.

The scale of this destruction is staggering, and for far too many, life will never be the same.
Overnight, multiple massive fires tore through Los Angeles County, devastating communities and destroying countless homes and small businesses.
Families woke up this morning to the unimaginable – entire neighborhoods reduced to ash.

California just secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant from FEMA to help combat the #EatonFire near Altadena.
Follow guidance from local authorities — including any evacuation orders.
Closely following the #PalisadesFire in Los Angeles.
If you're in an affected area – stay alert, stay vigilant, and follow all evacuation orders from local authorities.
Publishing the results of a special counsel’s investigation is the norm.
Making an exception to allow Jack Smith’s report to be buried would be indefensible.

As of today, all future offshore drilling has been permanently banned on the West Coast.
This is long overdue. But there’s still much more needed to preserve our coastline and protect our planet for generations to come.
And we will fight any attempts to undermine this ban.
I invited Officer Daniel Hodges to witness the peaceful transfer of power that his heroism four years ago made possible.
We must ensure the violence he endured never happens again. And that our democracy remains strong.
We will carry on the cherished legacy of our Founders.
We can, must, and will do our part to ensure that the same is true in every election, regardless of whether one’s preferred candidate wins or loses. We must ensure that our democratic republic survives four years from now, forty years from now, and forever.

Celebrating violence against our democracy.
California is a big state with big dreams.
As I take this oath to serve you for the next 6 years, I am deeply grateful, profoundly hopeful and ready to deliver.
I just received my Senate committee assignments: Judiciary, Agriculture, Small Business, and Environment & Public Works.
These assignments will allow me to help build a stronger economy, support our agriculture industry and small businesses, and protect our democracy and planet.
President Jimmy Carter leaves a legacy unlike any other.
Ceaseless in his service, unbending in his dignity, and revered for his commitment to our common humanity.
He fought the good fight and kept the faith — and now he has finished his race.
May his memory be an inspiration.
Today we welcome Hanukkah — the Festival of Lights.
In a time of uncertainty, may this celebration shine a light on brighter days to come.
Happy Hanukkah!
To everyone celebrating today, I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas.
May you and your loved ones find peace and joy in this holiday season.
Freedom of speech and expression are basic human rights.
The Chinese government must release Dr. Wang, Mr. Ding, and all prisoners of conscience.
And I will continue to advocate for these innocent men and others to be returned home to their families.
