Christine Elizabeth Smith is an American politician, retired Democratic political consultant, and former businesswoman serving as the junior United States senator from Minnesota since 2018. She is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), an affiliate of the Democratic Party.

Next year, a lot of folks are going to see their premiums go up $1,000 or more per month because of a Republican policy. If you start having to pay $1,000 extra every month, what will you stop being able to afford? This is what Democrats are fighting to stop.
MAGA folks, Republicans, Independents and Democrats from every corner of Minnesota are reaching out — and an overwhelming majority want to fix this health insurance spike before it’s too late.
I cannot be bullied to vote for a bill that I know will price more people out of health insurance — especially at a time when everything else is completely unaffordable.
