On this day in 2013, women servicemembers were finally permitted to enter direct combat – an important equalizing step for those willing to serve our country. I thank the servicewomen that have and are fighting for our freedom. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed.
Affordable housing is the bedrock upon which our diverse communities are able to grow and flourish. I was happy to host Pat Combs, a career-long leader in local real estate, to discuss the multitude of ways we can increase access to affordable housing in MI-03.

Over 1,600 Afghans, including those who risked their lives supporting our service members and the family members of U.S. military members, have had their flights canceled despite having the approval to relocate to the U.S., including here in Michigan. This is devastating.
Today we celebrate the anniversary of the 24th Amendment and the subsequent ending of poll taxes, which made it harder for poor — mainly Black Americans — to vote. Let us continue working to expand access to the ballot box to ensure every American voter’s voice is heard.
Our children deserve to grow up without fear of being killed by gun violence. This National Gun Violence Survivors Week, we honor the brave survivors of gun violence while remaining steadfast in our work toward a future free of gun violence altogether.
Today should be Roe v. Wade's 52nd anniversary. Since it's been overturned: ✖️Residents in over 1/3 of U.S. counties have little or no access to maternity care ✖️Maternal mortality is increasing, especially for BIPOC women American women deserve their reproductive rights back.
