These lands have a history we must honor. Any negotiation about their future must be grounded in respect for Native Hawaiians, their lived experience, and the public trust obligations owed to them.

Native Hawaiian voices cannot be an afterthought in decisions about ceded lands, public trust lands, and the future of Pōhakuloa.
These attacks are designed to divide, but we will stand together & fight shoulder to shoulder. Because what is at stake for one of us, is at stake for all of us.
Special mahalo to Sheri Daniels of Papa Ola Lōkahi for making her way out to DC to speak with our CAPAC ʻohana about the growing threats to Native Hawaiian trust responsibilities, entitlements, and programs, and why this moment calls for all of us to stay engaged, informed, and ready.
My statement honoring the life of Governor George Ariyoshi.
SNAP households across Hawaiʻi can now use benefits to purchase hot food at authorized retailers statewide through May 16. This temporary waiver, approved in response to the Kona Low storms, gives families more flexibility as recovery continues. For more information: visit humanservices.hawaii.gov,
Hawaiʻi deserves real negotiation and a process the public can actually see. The Army should remove the threat of condemnation and eminent domain, and come forward with a concrete proposal grounded in transparency and respect.
Native Hawaiians are an Indigenous People who have never relinquished their sovereignty, and who have already borne generations of land loss. Against that history, it is not possible to call the current process good faith with threats of condemnation and eminent domain against our communities.
Forty months from PTA's lease expiration, the Army still has not made a public offer about extending the lease. No dollar amount. No lease terms. No transparent negotiation.
Instead, the Army is talking about condemnation.

On Saturday, April 25, I will be holding a community town hall in Lānaʻi at ILWU Local 142. My team and I will be on site offering assistance with federal issues, discussing policies affecting Hawaiʻi, and answering questions from community members.

Today is Tax Day.
President Trump promised working families an extra $1,000 in tax refunds.
Instead, he gave billionaires tax breaks while everyday Americans get hit with rising prices across the board.
Proof that he’s only looking out for his ultrawealthy donors.
That is why I was proud to lead floor debate in support of Rep. Julia Letlow’s Emergency Conservation Program Improvement Act. Disaster aid has to move faster and work better, because our farmers should not have to wait while their livelihoods wash away.
Hawaiʻi’s farmers have been hit hard by the Kona lows. I’ve seen flooded fields, lost crops, damaged roads, ruined equipment, and families asking the same question: can we recover?
Over 142 days after the Epstein Files Transparency Act was signed, survivors are still waiting for justice. We stand with them.
Proud to stand w/ community advocates from the ACLU of Hawaiʻi, ACLU Student Club at the University of Hawaiʻi, & Indivisible Hawaiʻi Statewide Network in support of survivors and to send a clear message: those who trafficked, abused, and exploited women and children must be held accountable.
The IRS announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in Hawaiʻi affected by severe storms that began on March 10, 2026. Certain taxpayers in Hawaiʻi, Honolulu, Kauaʻi, and Maui counties now have until July 8, 2026, to file federal returns and make tax payments: bit.ly/stormtaxrelief
Due to severe weather preventing the Congresswoman’s flight from landing, we are postponing our Molokai Town Hall scheduled for Saturday, April 11, at 10:00 AM at Mitchell Pauʻole Center.

Mahalo to everyone who braved the weather and came out to our Lahaina townhall. It was a great discussion about the floods, small business support following the fires, and immigration, and truly appreciate Akaku TV being there to record and broadcast it.
Before our townhall, got to join the Maui Food Bank for their regular distribution of fresh protein and produce in Lahaina. I was there when we blessed Uncle Mana (the mobile food truck) and it was amazing seeing it in action.
