Always proud to return "home" to the Hawaii Okinawa Center! Shared my resolution commemorating the 125th anniversary of Okinawan immigration to the US & celebrated the 2024 Uchinanchu of the Year and incoming officers. Ippee nifee deebiru to Hawaii United Okinawa Association!
Returned to my state roots! Visited the State Capitol, saw some old friends from my time in the state legislature, and made a couple of new friends, too.
Happy to meet students at Kamaile Academy and assist with their keiki food pantry! Also got a behind-the-scenes tour of their campus and met some of our state's upcoming leaders and professionals. And I couldn't leave the Waianae Coast without stopping to appreciate the view. 📸
Proud that President Biden has affirmed the ERA to be the law of the land, symbolizing an overdue victory for gender equality. But the fight is not over yet and we will not stop until there is equal rights for everyone—no one should be judged or treated unfairly because of their gender.
Hawaiian Telcom ➕ federal, state, & county partners 🟰 $1.7B to turn Hawai‘i into the first fully fiber-enabled state! ✅ Proud to be a part of this initiative. Whether for health, school, or work—all of our ʻohana deserve internet access, regardless of where they live.
Instead of helping children, we'd rather police their identities, limit their freedom, & prevent them from doing something as simple as playing sports. Transgender girls are girls. They deserve the chance to pursue their dreams, just like everyone else.
Proud to share President Biden signed my bill to name Captain Cook post office in honor of Army First Lt. John Kuulei Kauhaihao! I hope this tribute serves as a permanent reminder to Shirley and the rest of Lt. K's ʻohana of his incredible sacrifice & dedication to our community. ♥️
Mahalo to the firefighters & first responders who are fighting tirelessly to contain the situation and save lives. Congress cannot forget those affected by natural disasters, we must provide them the resources & support they need to recover. (2/2)
It was an honor to pay my respects to President Jimmy Carter. He leaves behind a legacy of unparalleled kindness, decency, and commitment to public service. His care for humanity extended beyond our nation—it reached across the world. Mahalo nui loa, President Carter.
It was an honor to join my colleagues at APAICS's Ceremonial Swearing-In for CAPAC members. As Second Vice Chair, I look forward to continue serving our AANPHI communities and ensuring that our diverse needs, voices, and contributions are recognized in Congress. Mahalo!
It's on all of us to make sure it never happens again. We all have a responsibility to protect our democracy, hold any extremists who threaten it accountable, & ensure a brighter future where truth and justice prevail. Democracy depends on us. (2/2)
Let's not forget: January 6th was not only a violent assault on our democracy, but also the people who work hard every day to uphold and protect it. Today, we recognize the sacrifice of our Capitol Police & the lives of everyone who were impacted that day. (1/2)
New day, new Congress, same me. Just got sworn in (and snowed on ❄️) for the #119th and I'm ready to keep working on behalf of all of our ʻohana back home in Hawaiʻi. Mahalo for trusting me to be your Representative for another go-round!
