At this week’s @NRDems hearing, I voiced my concerns around permitting reform.
While I support accelerating renewable energy development, we cannot allow a pro–fossil fuel, anti–clean energy administration that disregards the climate crisis to weaken NEPA.
Today marks 24 years since nearly 3,000 lives were stolen on one of the darkest days in our nation’s and New York’s history on 9/11.
We honor the courage of first responders, survivors, and all who carried us through.
The devastation in Gaza is unbearable. Entire families gone, neighborhoods erased, too often caused by bombs stamped Made in the USA.
That’s why I support @repdeliaramirez Block the Bombs Act. No more blank checks for war and US weapons fueling genocide. We must demand peace.
This is the man that says he's not in the files.

For months, the Trump admin has blocked me & my colleagues from inspecting 26 Federal Plaza.
This ruling is more proof they've been hiding abusive, illegal conditions.
Judge Kaplan’s order is progress, but we won’t stop until the 10th floor ICE detention site is shut down.
NEW: A federal judge ordered ICE to remedy conditions in the holding cells at 26 Federal Plaza in NYC.
The judge, Lewis Kaplan, ordered ICE to reduce the number of migrants, ensure they have sleeping mats, and facilitate calls to lawyers.

On Jan 6, as the Capitol was under attack, Trump refused to call in the National Guard. He later pardoned those who beat police & tried to overturn the election.
Now, with DC crime down, he’s sending in the Guard in an authoritarian power grab. We must stand against it, or other cities will be next

“The thought of losing access to these benefits is terrifying,” said Maria, our member & survivor of a stroke.
Today, the 60th anniversary of Medicaid & Medicare, we joined @velazquez.house.gov’s Medicaid Day of Action to demand URGENT action from legislators to protect Medicaid from federal cuts!
On Medicaid's 60th anniversary, I gathered health care workers, hospital leaders, and patients at Wyckoff in Bushwick to speak out against the GOP’s massive health care cuts.
This is the biggest attack on care in our nation’s history and we won't stop fighting.
Awdah Hathaleen, a teacher, father & activist, was shot & killed by an Israeli settler.
The settler was sanctioned by the US for violence in the West Bank, but Trump lifted the penalties.
His murder is the result of US & Israeli policies that enable settler violence. He deserves justice.
Telling Dreamers to “self-deport” is nothing short of cruel. These are young people who grew up here, went to school here, and built their lives here.
This is their home, and I will not stop fighting for them.
In the past few months the Trump administration moved to strip DACA recipients of healthcare & launched investigations into colleges providing financial aid for them
Now DHS is urging participants to “self deport” marking weakening protections. My latest: www.npr.org/2025/07/29/n...
Trump just called the Epstein Files “bullshit” and said anyone who cares is a “weakling.”
He desperately wants us to look away. So do House Republicans.
We’re not letting this go. Release the files.
Sayfollah "Saif" Musallet was a 20-year-old American visiting family in the West Bank for the summer. He was beaten to death by Israeli settlers.
The U.S. must immediately launch a full, independent investigation and demand accountability for his death.
Today, @repespaillat.bsky.social and I were denied our right to congressional oversight at 26 Federal Plaza.
They are detaining immigrant New Yorkers in reportedly horrific conditions and dare to deny they are a detention facility.
DHS must stop with the semantics and follow the law.
Today, we stood outside the ICE detention facility at 26 Federal Plaza to say loud and clear: NO MASKS FOR ICE.
These tactics are creating chaos and facilitating abuse.
It’s time to pass my bill and bring basic accountability to immigration enforcement.

Today, outside 26 Federal Plaza, we joined Congress members @velazquez.house.gov + @nadler.house.gov, @thenyic.bsky.social, @legalaidnyc.bsky.social, and allies to spotlight the No Masks for ICE Act to call for immediate federal action to end secretive, unaccountable immigration enforcement.

🚨EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Nydia Velázquez just introduced BOMBSHELL legislation to UNMASK ICE and stop agents from hiding behind masks: “You can’t hold someone accountable if you don’t know who they are. This is not Russia…Take the masks off.” Justice lives in the light!
The Supreme Court just opened the door for Trump’s assault on birthright citizenship.
As Justice Sotomayor warned in her dissent, “No right is safe in the new legal regime the Court creates.”
This ruling is an attack on the very foundation of our nation.
Trump’s illegal strikes on Iran risk dragging the US into another disastrous endless conflict & endanger countless innocent lives across the region.
The American people don't want this.
Congress must pass the War Powers Resolution & stop Trump’s unconstitutional march to war.
