I am deeply saddened by the passing of my colleague, Senator Lindsey Graham. He was a man of great faith who served the people of South Carolina with passion and tenacity. I am praying for his family and his loved ones as they mourn this tremendous loss.
My mother grew up in Georgia picking somebody else’s cotton. The hands that once picked somebody else’s cotton got to pick her son to be a United States senator. That’s why voting rights are personal to me. We’ve come too far to go backward.
On our nation's 250th birthday, I am reminded of how blessed we are to live in these United States. American greatness lies in our ability to push forward in pursuit of our highest ideals. We must never stop fighting for liberty and justice for all. Stay safe and have a great 4th!
This is important. The Supreme Court has ruled that states CAN count mail ballots that are sent by Election Day but arrive late. Small but significant victory in our battle against this administration’s all out war against your right to vote.
