Tonight, I secured a key concession from the Trump admin to close a loophole in the Russia sanctions bill that expanded Trump’s tariff power. This is a small but important victory for all Americans who have suffered under this President’s reckless tariffs.
61 years ago, the Voting Rights Act became law thanks to the hard work and perseverance of civil rights activists. This year, Trump’s Supreme Court gutted it. They are playing with the blood of our ancestors. Honor their legacy. Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
We can’t lose sight of this. Millions of families are going hungry in this country because Donald Trump wanted to give a tax break to billionaires. It’s a moral abomination.
This Buffalo Soldiers Day, I’m thinking of the first all-Black Army regiments formed after the Civil War. Despite facing discrimination and hate, these brave soldiers served our country valiantly. The patriotism and sacrifice of these heroes live on.
