I met with our new Florida International University President today to ensure we can provide the best education possible for all our FIU students.
I’m committed to supporting the students and faculty of FIU in every way possible. #PawsUp

Habemus Papam!
I welcome Pope Leo XIV and pray for his success, wisdom, and righteousness as he takes on this sacred ministry to lead the Catholic Church and inspire millions around the world.
May the Lord place his guiding hand over Pope Leo XIV and the world during these times.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! 👩🏫
As a lifelong educator myself, I know how hard each and every teacher works every single day.
Thank you to all our teachers across the nation!
Every Wednesday is #WearBlueWednesday because enough is enough.
It's time we #BringBackTheHostages.

There is no way to spin it: Republicans want to slash Medicaid and kick people off their healthcare plans.
END OF STORY!
Republicans need to keep their hands off Medicaid!
I will vote ‘no’ on any attempts to slash basic needs programs.
Republicans’ reckless policies are crashing the economy in real time and raising costs for everyday goods.
This chaos has to stop.
It’s having real consequence on everyday people and delaying water infrastructure projects across the nation.
I was glad to join @demwomencaucus.bsky.social and @gabbygiffords.bsky.social to discuss the fatal cost of Republicans’ gun agenda for women.
As a nation, it’s time we once and for all take action to combat gun violence.
🗞️NEWS: The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law — which I proudly cosponsored and President Biden signed — continues to deliver!
Miami International Airport is getting $35 million for terminal upgrades, and PortMiami is receiving $5 million to develop its net-zero cargo supply chain.
The ICE Broward Transitional Center is the second ICE facility I’ve visited this year.
Members of Congress must keep showing up—deaths and inhumane treatment of immigrant detainees can’t go unchecked.
We are an immigrant-rich nation and we must do better as a nation.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! As a former public school teacher and principal, I know how hard they work.
Teachers are the backbone of our community and future—let’s thank them today and every day for all they do to support our children!
Congress must use its oversight power to hold this administration accountable and ensure the humane treatment of immigrant detainees.
This administration has failed to maintain its facilities or treat detainees humanely.
We are an immigrant rich nation and we must do better.
Leaving the Broward Transitional Center, I saw how little ICE cares about immigrant detainees.
The recent death in the Broward facility is just a tragic example of what happens when we let this government go unchecked.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
The death of a detainee under ICE's watch at the Broward Transitional Center is unacceptable.
I'll be visiting the facility TODAY with Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick to find out what happened and inspect the facility's conditions.
Stay tuned for more.
Happy Haitian Heritage Month! 🇭🇹
This month, we honor the strength, culture, and resilience of the Haitian people.
I am proud to represent one of the largest Haitian populations in the United States and thanks to them, our community is more vibrant and stronger.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
If you or anyone you know experienced sexual abuse, know that help is available 24/7.
No one should have to face the aftermath of sexual assault alone.
Every Wednesday is #WearBlueWednesday because enough is enough.
It's time we #BringBackTheHostages.

Congress needs to ensure proper oversight over this administration’s immigration policies and all members of Congress must visit ICE facilities across the country because clearly ICE does not give a damn about our immigrant communities.
I’m heartbroken and furious about Marie Ange Blaise, a Haitian immigrant who died in ICE custody at the Broward Transitional Center.
How many more stories do we have to hear of immigrants being mistreated at these black hole detention centers? When are we going to get answers?
Happy Birthday Carrie Meek!
I miss you and thank you for inspiring me and so many others in your fight for justice.
Members of Congress must conduct oversight by visiting ICE facilities across the country.
We are an immigrant-rich nation, and our hardworking immigrant neighbors—who contribute so much to this country—deserve dignity and opportunity, not inhumane treatment.
