House Republicans just handed ICE and CBP another $70B while ripping affordable healthcare from nearly 100,000 Broward families. I voted no. I fought to stop ICE brutality in the Appropriations Committee past 1AM last night, and Democrats are continuing the fight today.
I've represented South Florida's diverse Caribbean and Latin American diaspora communities throughout my career. Their stories have sharpened my focus on human rights and democracy. Honored to join @houseforeign.bsky.social to carry that mission forward and fight Trump's America-last policies
Apple made the right call by giving more tools to parents to keep kids healthy and safe. Child safety tools are absolutely necessary, which is why I introduced Sammy's Law to protect kids online. This work is not just about marketing, it’s lifesaving. www.today.com/video/apple-...
Revoking the waiting period for buying a firearm risks putting guns in the wrong hands. This timeline allows for background checks and prevents impulsive violence and self-harm. Uthmeier's attack on this common-sense law puts Floridians in harm’s way www.wctv.tv/2026/06/06/f...
Glad to join Empowered to Thrive and Broward's cancer community for Safari of Survivors! I know firsthand that survivorship is a vital part of a cancer journey. My Lainie Jones Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act helps survivors handle long-term impacts on health and life.
As vice-chair of the Equality Caucus, I fight to not only protect the gains of the LGBTQ+ community, but make even bigger strides forward. I was able to recognize one of the most vibrant and diverse LGBTQ+ communities in the country at the inaugural Stonewall Honors Ceremony!
Polycystic kidney disease impacts more than half a million Americans, but doesn’t get nearly enough attention. I introduced the PKD Cures Act with @cleaver.house.gov, Rep. Carol Miller, and Rep. Don Bacon to invest in research, improve treatment, and work towards a cure.
Great to meet students from Urban League of Broward County's Youth Hate Crimes Leadership Program (with a guest appearance from @repjamesclyburn.bsky.social)! Urban League knows progress is made when we empower communities, open doors, and insist dignity and opportunity belongs to everyone.
After pressure from tribal and faith leaders, community members, and environmental defenders, it seems the so-called "Alligator Alcatraz" internment camp is shutting down. This fight isn't over. I'll use every tool at my disposal to hold those responsible accountable.
Under Trump LGBTQ+ rights are under relentless attack. As a proud @equality.house.gov Vice Chair, I work 24/7 in Congress to defend those rights. Pride is still a protest. As we kick off Pride Month, I’m proud to celebrate that spirit and continue the fight.
I convened Broward County families and officials to share how rising utility costs hurt us all. I also shared how to lower utility bills: cap corporate overcharges and invest in low-cost clean energy. Democrats did this in the Inflation Reduction Act. We must do it again.
