Richard Blumenthal is an American politician and attorney serving as the senior United States senator from the state of Connecticut. A member of the Democratic Party, he has been a member of the Senate since 2011. Blumenthal previously served as U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut, as a member of the Connecticut General Assembly, and as the 23rd Connecticut attorney general.

Scorching sanctions on China, India & Brazil are vital—ASAP, without loopholes—to stop them from buying Russian oil & gas, fueling Putin’s war machine & mocking US Ukraine support. Trump’s tariff orders are a start, but my & Sen. Graham’s Russia Sanctions Bill is a broader solution.
At the same time the Trump Admin is cutting health care, nutrition assistance, & emergency services in the name of ‘efficiency’ & ‘savings,’ they have enabled DOGE’s reckless waste of at least $21.7 billion. My new PSI report is a searing indictment of DOGE’s false claims.
As my PSI investigation has shown, DOGE was clearly never about efficiency or saving the American taxpayer money. Instead it wasted at least $21.7 billion. I urge Inspectors General to take my investigation’s findings & initiate a comprehensive review of DOGE’s careless actions.
John Lewis’ only body armor as he crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge—& endured brutal beating—was his courage & conviction. Now we need to make “good trouble,” protecting voting rights against suppression with a bill named for him.
A dark day for the Senate, & the country—confirmation of Emil Bove as a federal appellate judge. Unfit & unqualified, he was rushed to a vote by Republicans, who refused  to hear whistleblower testimony or demand DOJ files. Reckless & reprehensible.
The Medical Disability Examination Improvement Act will help improve this process for veterans in CT & across the nation—giving VA resources to hire more medical disability examiners, improve training for staff, & access rural veterans living in hard-to-reach areas.
Not 1, not 2, but 3 whistleblowers have come forward to challenge Emil Bove’s nomination. Republicans’ rush towards confirmation means they’re willfully ignoring clear evidence of his disqualifying breaches of conduct, including misleading testimony at his confirmation hearing.
Delta’s AI pricing is threatening personal privacy & consumers. Putting profits over people, Delta’s AI algorithm uses personal information to tailor pricing up to an individual’s specific pain point—lining the airline’s pockets at the consumer’s expense.
Deeply complicit in trafficking kids, & now seeking Trump’s favors, Maxwell has zero credibility. The DOJ files are critical to disclose the truth. Trump is using his immense power to conceal facts—victimizing again the kids exploited by Epstein & Maxwell.
Additional whistleblowers compel postponing a Senate confirmation vote on nominee Bove’s judgeship. Possible new info about his alleged ethical & legal breaches must be considered. Republicans have barred hearing from any whistleblower so far—a reckless, irresponsible rush.
The appearance is unmistakable. Cutting FCC’s staff, firing a commissioner, & more, Trump makes it a blatant tool of self-enrichment & partisan bullying. Sending unmissable signals, he purposes the FCC’s sweeping power to benefit himself—an unprecedented act of corruption.
This appalling Supreme Court decision empowering President Trump to decimate this agency will leave Americans vulnerable in their own homes—allowing defective, dangerous products to make their way to store shelves without effective safeguards.
The Supreme Court just gave the Trump Administration a green light to dismantle the bipartisan, independent Consumer Product Safety Commission. For decades, this agency worked to put consumer safety above corporate profits & protect children & families.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court just allowed Trump to remove three Democratic members of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The commission helps protect consumers from dangerous products. Trump fired the three Dems on the five-member commission in the middle of 7 year terms.
