The "SAVE America Act" goes far beyond requiring a photo ID to vote. It is a deliberate effort by President Trump and Republicans to disenfranchise millions of Americans from the ballot box. I am voting NO. open.substack.com/pub/repbera/...
This morning, I had the honor of greeting Buddhist monks as they completed their Walk for Peace. The monks walked 2,300 miles to raise awareness and mindfulness in their journey for peace. We can all learn from their example as we work to heal and bridge the divides in our nation.
American consumers are paying the price for Trump’s tariffs. Tonight’s vote brings us one step closer to reasserting Congress’ Article I authority over tariffs and delivering relief for the American people.
Cal OES coordinates and supports our state’s response to wildfires, earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters. I’m grateful to Ian and the entire team at Cal OES for the work they do to keep us safe.
I recently met with Ian Bastek, the Acting Chief Deputy Director for the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, to receive an update on the agency’s statewide emergency response operations.
The American Dream of owning a home is out of reach for far too many. I’m excited to vote for the Housing for the 21st Century Act tonight to boost housing production, expand pathways to affordable home ownership, and make the dream of owning a home a reality for more Americans.
President Trump knows he’s unpopular and on track to lose the midterms. That’s why he wants to seize control of our elections and cheat to keep Republicans in power. We must take him at his word and fight back.
It was great stopping by Meraki High School and the Waldorf School in Fair Oaks as the latest stops in my Congress in the Classroom series. The students asked tough questions and their energy continues to inspire my work!
As a former educator, I love getting back into the classroom to talk with students about civic engagement, the legislative process, and how young people can shape the future.
Don Lemon’s work as a journalist is protected by the First Amendment. His arrest is another chilling example of the Trump administration weaponizing the federal government against its critics. Don must be released immediately.

President Trump has shown no willingness to fire Kristi Noem. That leaves Congress with no choice but to act. That is why I am cosponsoring articles of impeachment against Secretary Noem.
Bera Signs Articles of Impeachment Against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem

“Under Secretary Noem’s watch, we have witnessed federal agents carry out warrantless raids, detain U.S. citizens without cause, and use deadly force unjustifiably on the streets of American cities.

Rather than take responsibility and pursue accountability, Secretary Noem has repeatedly lied to the American people and obstructed comprehensive and transparent investigations from taking place.

The Department of Homeland Security was created to keep Americans safe. Secretary Noem has turned it into an agency that millions now fear. We must restore leadership at DHS that respects the Constitution, due process, and the rule of law.”
On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we pause to remember the six million Jews and millions of other innocents murdered by the Nazi regime. We must recommit ourselves to fighting antisemitism and ensure that the horrors of the Holocaust are never minimized or forgotten.
A complete and transparent investigation that delivers justice and accountability for the families of Alex Pretti and Renée Good cannot take place with her remaining in this position.
Greg Bovino’s exit from Minneapolis is not enough. Kristi Noem has lost the trust of the American people and must resign from her position as DHS Secretary.
