Every community, regardless of the zip code, deserves access to parks and open space.
Honored to secure $2 million to create a new greenbelt along the LA River in #NorthLongBeach, and glad the project is moving forward!

Happy #ImmigrantHeritage Month!
California’s 44th District is home to one of the most vibrant & diverse communities in the US. I want to highlight our thriving immigrant population—the doctors, small business owners, lawyers, engineers, & teachers central to our economy, culture, & community.
Congratulations to my friend @robertgarcia.bsky.social, the new Ranking Member of @oversightdemocrats.house.gov!
He’ll provide oversight & conduct investigations—which is what we need to fight the corruption of the current administration.
He’ll make sure that our government works for everyone.
It’s been 3 years since Dobbs v. Jackson.
Reproductive freedom IS health care—which is why I am a proud original cosponsor with other @HouseDemocrats.bsky.social in reintroducing the Women’s Health Protection Act today so that women have the right to make health care decisions for their own bodies.
Centers across the country are losing millions in funding for Alzheimer’s research — but Secretary Kennedy is blissfully unaware.
This funding is so critical for advancements in prevention, early diagnosis, and access to care for millions of Americans who are looking for hope.
In other words: Senate Republicans will stay in to pass cuts to Medicaid and the ACA, the largest health care cuts in our history. They will rip away health care from 16 million Americans just to give tax breaks to their billionaire buddies. Got it.

Reports of Iranian missiles launched toward American troops in the Middle East are exactly why President Trump’s unilateral decision to attack Iran without Congressional authorization is so dangerous. It’s also unconstitutional.
@jahimes.bsky.social breaks down the latest in the conflict.
This week I joined @housedemocrats.bsky.social to sound the alarm bell. We will fight like hell to save our hospitals.
Medicaid is a lifeline for millions of Americans and helps our hospitals deliver critical care to our communities.
Hospitals like Harbor UCLA are at risk of reduced services or even closure because of Trump’s One Big, Ugly Bill. House Republicans passed the bill to cut healthcare/Medicaid so they can reward their wealthy donors with huge tax breaks —& Senate Republicans will make it worse with even larger cuts.

Trump did not have the authority to bomb Iran’s nuclear sites without Congressional approval.
He should have pursued diplomacy, not escalation. Now we face serious risk of retaliation.
This is not how we protect American lives or interests.
Trump isn’t for law and order & doesn’t support law enforcement — look at January 6. This is all a show to intimidate and silence dissent. It’s not working.
JD Vance came to LA, held a press conference, and lied, lied, lied. The problems started with ICE terrorizing our communities and then Trump escalated the situation by sending in the National Guard and Marines.
These incredible women shared powerful insights on every issue and gave us ideas on how we can continue to educate, protect, and support our communities during these challenging times.
Met with my Women’s Advisory Council to discuss the harmful impact Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill will have on our communities and his administration’s ICE raids that are spreading fear in #CA44 and throughout Southern California.
And then — to top it all off — he referred to Senator Alex Padilla as “Jose Padilla.”
They served in the same chamber. He knows his name. This wasn’t a slip — it was disrespectful.
This isn’t about law and order. It’s about fear, division, and deflection.
❌ He accused Gov. Newsom and Mayor Bass of “endangering officers’ lives.”
👉🏽 What they’ve actually done is stand up for accountability, transparency, and the safety of all Californians.
❌ He said ICE is prioritizing their limited resources on going after criminals.
👉🏽 In fact, arrests of immigrants with no criminal convictions are up over 800% since January.
❌ He claimed the situation in LA was out of control, forcing Trump to send in the National Guard.
👉🏽 In reality, local law enforcement had things under control - Trump escalated the situation when he deployed federal troops.
