The high cost of housing is something we are well aware of in California. I held a roundtable today, on @housedemocrats.bsky.social’ State of the Economy Day of Action, to highlight how so many Californians struggle to afford and remain housed in Trump’s economy.
My heart goes out to the family of Jesse Jackson and our entire country that mourns his loss. Jesse Jackson was a giant. A civic leader who led by example and had a gift for the spoken word. His teachings of unity and love are more important than ever as we navigate these turbulent times.
Immigrant rights are human rights. Which is why I led a California Delegation letter with Rep. @chu.house.gov to draw attention to the neglect and horrible treatment of detainees at the California City detention center, the largest in the state.

At today’s Steering & Policy hearing, witnesses shared stories of people being harassed and disappeared by ICE. That’s why @housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting for common-sense reforms and accountability to address ICE abuse & misconduct.
Many religious and higher education institutions have unused land that can be used to help house those in need.  My bill, co-led by @repshontelbrown.bsky.social, will provide assistance to these institutions to help remove obstacles, so we can increase affordable housing for our communities.
