A recent report by the USPS Inspector General found that implementing "Local Transportation Optimization" led to even more delays. Last year, I raised the alarm about what this misguided plan would mean for our rural communities. We can't let it happen in Illinois.
Thanks to the Social Security Fairness Act, more than 134,000 Illinoisans will see their full Social Security benefits restored. I was proud to champion this legislation to ensure hardworking public servants receive the benefits they've earned.
At-grade rail crossings are a leading cause of rail accidents and often lead to delays for commuters and first responders. I’m excited to announce $240,000 in federal funding for Champaign to plan a grade separation project on Bradley Avenue and make our community safer.
Last night, I voted to pass legislation to help improve FEMA's disaster assistance process. From communities impacted by the LA wildfires to folks right here in the Metro East recovering from last summer's storms, this bill will make it easier for people to get the aid they need.
I visited the former Dow Chemical Company in Madison to amplify the devastating effects of uranium production on the surrounding community. We'll never give up on getting justice for the folks who have suffered. www.ksdk.com/article/news...
ICYMI: Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, annual out-of-pocket spending on prescriptions for seniors on Medicare is now capped at $2,000! Let's keep working to bring down drug costs for everyone.
Building more housing is an important way to bring down rental costs. Last year, I was proud to deliver more than $1 million in federal funding for Alton's Lovejoy Project— the 1st new construction project downtown in over a generation!
Happy Korean American Day! Today we celebrate the countless ways that Korean Americans have enriched our communities and culture since the first Korean immigrants arrived to the United States 122 years ago.
For decades, families in St. Clair and Madison County have endured serious health problems caused by uranium production at Dow Chemical Company Factory. Today, I visited the site of the former factory to call for these communities to receive the RECA compensation they deserve.
Privatizing the USPS could raise prices and limit service for folks in remote areas. I'll continue to push back against disastrous proposals like this one that would harm our rural communities and postal workers alike. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
I'm proud to deliver a $10 million federal infrastructure grant for Champaign-Urbana to rehabilitate Florida Ave! This project will create jobs, improve safety, protect bike paths and connect key local spots like UI athletic facilities and historic neighborhoods.
Great news! When workers stand together, workers win. Solidarity ✊
We’re thrilled to share breaking news: The AFL-CIO and @seiu.org are reuniting with a new, long-term effort to make it easier for workers to win a voice on our jobs with our unions.  There’s power in unity! aflcio.org/press/releas...

Protecting our climate is a team effort. As a member of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, I’m working to invest in our clean energy economy and create good paying, union jobs in Central and Southern Illinois.
The fires raging across Los Angeles are truly terrifying. My heart is breaking for the countless people who have lost everything. Thank you to the brave firefighters risking their lives to put these fires out.
I was honored to pay my respects to President Jimmy Carter as he lies in state in the U.S. Capitol. I join every American in mourning his loss and celebrating his legacy as a peace builder, humanitarian and champion for working families.
This funding is a huge win for our communities that are still recovering from last summer's storms. I’m proud to have helped secure the Presidential Disaster Declaration for St. Clair, and even prouder to see it deliver support for those who need it most. budzinski.house.gov/posts/st-cla...
