As we make our way through wildfire season, it’s important that we mitigate risk as much as possible. I stand ready to work with our partners on the ground to make sure they have everything they need to keep our communities safe.
We haven’t asked for the President to send the National Guard to Portland. In fact, none of the cities he’s deploying them to have asked for it. It’s an abuse of power, and it needs to stop.
If the President thinks he can march into Portland and start body snatching to discourage free speech and incite terror, he has another thing coming. Worry about the economy you’re tanking with your chaotic policies – we got us.
Thank you, Silverton, for joining me for the last stop of the Give 'Em Hell tour, and thank you to Mayor Freilinger for emceeing. I heard you loud and clear, and I'll continue fighting in Congress to protect access to healthcare, Social Security, and clean drinking water.
Undermining the science behind vaccines is irresponsible and puts Oregonians at risk, which is why I'm glad the Western Health Alliance will be sticking with the data. The Trump administration is playing games with Americans' health – it needs to stop. www.oregonlive.com/health/2025/...
Thanks to President Trump's tariffs, families will be paying over $150 more this year to pack their kids' lunches. Back-to-school season should be filled with excitement, not financial stress. Read more ⬇️  tcf.org/content/comm...
As your representative, I have the honor of nominating ten students for appointment to U.S. service academies. If you are between 17 and 23 years old and interested in applying, the deadline is October 15, 2025. You can apply on my website: bynum.house.gov/services/mil...
The President needs to focus on his failing economic policies that are hurting Americans and raising our costs. We got us. My full statement on Trump’s threat of National Guard deployment in Portland ⬇️
It was a great month back home in Oregon, where I had the opportunity to meet and speak to so many of you.  Here are five takeaways from my time in CD5 ⬇️
Unemployment is up, job creation is down, and costs are rising. The numbers haven't been this bad since the pandemic – the President is failing the economy. Oregonians deserve better.
BRUTAL JOBS REPORT: Just 22,000 jobs added in August. Unemployment rises to 4.3%. Broader jobless rate jumps to 8.1%. Slowest 4-month growth since 2020. Plus, downward revisions for June and July of -21,000. Yikes.
I can’t believe the time has already come for the last in-person stop of my Give ‘Em Hell tour. Silverton, it’s all you! I’ll be at Silverton Middle School tomorrow at 12:00PM PT. Let’s give ‘em hell!
The countdown is on to avoid a government shutdown – Republicans have until September 30 to get their act together and keep the government open. Ball’s in your court, Mr. Speaker.
The House is back in session, and we’ve got some new decor outside our office.  I grew up in DC, so Trump’s takeover of this city is personal – and deeply unsettling – to me. Proud to be repping the capital here in my office.
Last week, I hosted a roundtable to hear about the obstacles small businesses are facing and how I can help. I'll continue pushing for the support our rural economies need and deserve.
Now is not the time to make life harder on our firefighters. Yet the President is cutting their funding and pulling them off the frontlines to conduct immigration enforcement. Give me a break.
I've had the opportunity to hear from so many across CD5 this month – nurses, labor leaders, educators, local and statewide officials, law enforcement, firefighters, & small business owners. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories – I'm taking them with me back to DC to fight for you.
Republicans sent us home for the district work period celebrating their trash budget, which rips healthcare away from millions of Americans. I’m returning to DC ready to fight back against those harmful cuts and work on legislation to do what I came here to do – make life better for Oregonians.
