I joined 45 of my Senate Democratic colleagues in an open letter to the public, warning about cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Congress should not give tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans by taking away food assistance from millions of Americans.
This executive order comes on the heels of the leaked Trump Administration draft budget which would slash the National Marine Fisheries Service budget by 27 percent and eliminate the Habitat Conservation Program and the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund .. (2/3)
This tariff policy disrupts an integrated economy, hurts small businesses, and disrupts what is an important opportunity for the United States to grow more jobs for the future. Building alliances and strengthening our innovation economy is what we should be doing.

The fact that a president can throw an economy into such havoc without really consulting or talking to Congress is just wrong. I talked with @chrislhayes.bsky.social of MSNBC about my bipartisan bill to require the president to get approval for tariffs.
The administration is telling us that tariffs are the tool to a winning economy. And I’m saying, innovation is the tool! I want to innovate my way to that future, instead of berating the American consumer who has to pay the price for this policy.
