On World Cancer Day, we remember the lives lost to this horrific disease and honor their memory by striving to eradicate it. I won’t stop working in Congress to invest in cancer prevention, care, and research that will allow us to find cures and save lives.
With funding for DHS scheduled to lapse in 2 weeks, I call on Republicans in Congress to join with Democrats to enact comprehensive reforms that will put an end to the brutality, protect civil liberties, and ensure accountability. Anything less is unacceptable.
I cannot in good conscience vote to continue funding for the Department of Homeland Security as federal agents gun down Americans and undermine the constitutional rights of our fellow citizens. For that reason, I voted against today’s appropriations package.
Breaking News: The House passed a bill to reopen the government, kicking off what are likely to be difficult negotiations over curbing ICE.
As the president continues to lie about the 2020 election, and after inciting an insurrection to try to steal it, Americans should take these threats seriously. Elected officials at every level must stand up to the president’s attempt to rig elections.
President Trump said Monday Republicans should nationalize elections and take them over from the states as he repeated his disproven claims of voter fraud.
Every member of our community deserves safe, stable, and affordable housing. Following my visit to Bowen Tower last month, I’m pleased the situation has reached a mutually beneficial resolution that will lead to necessary repairs and lower costs for residents. www.kshb.com/news/local-n...
Americans across the country, including in Kansas City, have made clear that we do not want these detention warehouses in our communities. Rather than spending billions on inhumane detention centers, Congress should extend ACA tax credits and lower health care costs. apnews.com/article/immi...
Libraries and access to education are a critical component to rehabilitation and our efforts to reduce recidivism. That’s why I introduced the Prison Libraries Act to expand library services for incarcerated Americans.
News: ALA welcomes the reintroduction of the Prison Libraries Act, legislation that would create a new federal grant program to support library services for incarcerated people. Learn more about the bill and its proposed funding measures: www.ala.org/news/2026/01...

For years, America’s national security leaders objected to selling advanced AI chips to the UAE on a bipartisan basis. After the UAE sent hundreds of millions of dollars to the Trump & Witkoff families, this administration reversed course. The corruption is staggering. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
Happy #BlackHistoryMonth! During the month of February, let us honor the sacrifices and contributions that African Americans have made throughout history to strengthen our great nation. As we celebrate these achievements, let us also recommit to building on the work of those who came before us.
As the president’s tariff taxes continue to drive up prices, we got another concerning inflation report this morning. Republicans in Congress must put an end to the president’s reckless and inflationary trade policies before more economic harm is done to working-class families.
Much hotter-than-expected US PPI inflation: Monthly PPI inflation for December jumped to 0.5%, significantly above the consensus forecast of 0.2%. Core PPI was even more startling, coming in at 0.7% monthly and pushing the annual core measure to 3.3% (well above the anticipated 2.9%). #Inflation
The highest priority for American families is addressing the cost-of-living crisis—and affordable housing is at the very top of the list. Unfortunately, the president is openly stating his intention is to drive up housing prices even further. Completely out of touch.
Trump: "People that own their homes -- we're gonna keep them wealthy. We're gonna keep those prices up. We're not gonna destroy the value of their homes so that somebody who didn't work very hard can buy a home."
While hardworking families struggle to keep up with rising costs, the president is attempting to steal $10 billion from American taxpayers. Congress must put an end to the president’s flagrant corruption.
Trump sues the US Treasury and Internal Revenue Service for at least $10 billion over an unauthorized disclosure of his tax returns during his first term in office
@housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting to lower costs and protect health care because care should be a right, not a luxury. It’s time that Senate Republicans allowed a vote to extend ACA tax credits to lower costs for hardworking families!
