Exactly 1 year ago, Donald Trump became president and promised to “rapidly bring down costs” and “cut your energy costs in half.”  Electricity bills are up. The average American had to spend $1,600 more last year for basics like food and housing.  This is an affordability crisis.
Muhammad Ali was a fighter in the boxing ring and in civil rights — an advocate for Muslim-Americans and a pioneer for justice. His impact is still felt today, which is why I introduced a bill honoring him with a Congressional Gold Medal. Happy Birthday, Muhammad Ali!
Visas allow people to come the US to work and contribute to society. President Trump is now making it harder for people to legally enter by suspending immigrant visas, despite the essential role immigrants play in strengthening our country.

Democrats are working to lower energy costs for families, but the Trump administration has reversed many of these policies, causing Hoosiers to pay 16% more than the national average on their electric bill.
Political violence is never the answer. Today marks 15 years since the horrific attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords that killed six innocent people. As a target of political violence myself, I proudly support the resolution honoring the survivors and lives lost on this day in 2011 in Tucson.
Protesting is not a crime. It should never get you killed. I’m a former member of law enforcement & have been in dangerous situations. The ICE agent who shot a demonstrator in Minnesota was not justified.
