Trump empowers Bukele in El Salvador to escalate his repression. The arrest of human rights lawyer Ruth López and targeting of the opposition, including Ronal Umaña, is disgraceful. The US should be calling for their protection and release, not cruelly authorizing detentions with no due process.
Gathering at Foundation Communities, an excellent nonprofit serving thousands of Central Texans, I joined health experts to talk about enormous health premium price spikes coming in just a few months because Republicans have failed to extend tax credits helping Americans afford health care.
America’s struggle for independence 250 years ago dethroned a king from abroad. Make no mistake: Central Texans and patriots across the country reject a king from Mar-a-Lago.
Stopping Trump’s wrongdoing requires having the courage to gather and peacefully express our unrelenting commitment to democracy. We will not be intimidated! (4/4)
Before the Capitol grounds are cleared by DPS at 8pm, we will conclude and separate from any, who may want to help Trump by going elsewhere to sabotage our peaceful protest with unrest. (3/4)
I have personally talked with law enforcement, event organizers, and other participating elected officials. Every reasonable step has been taken to keep us safe at the rally. (2/4)
The alarming, politically motivated assassinations in Minnesota, will not prevent our coming together this afternoon at our State Capitol to show our opposition to Trump tyranny. (1/4)
Trump's administration has grabbed students off the street, arrested a state judge, indicted my House colleague for doing her oversight job, and now thrown a US Senator to the floor and handcuffed him for questioning lawless actions. We cannot permit our democracy to ebb away.
The use of force against U.S. Senator Alex Padilla as he tried to demand accountability and transparency from a lawless administration is outrageous and an affront to democracy. We will not be intimidated or silenced by Trump and his gang of thugs as they try to march us further into tyranny.
Medicare DisAdvantage private insurers are receiving $86 billion to deliver supplemental benefits. Many of these “benefits” are offered by companies the plan owns, transferring taxpayer dollars into their profit margin. I am seeking answers to how this consolidation is ripping off taxpayers.
Trump's admin cut funding to Yale's Conflict Observatory, the organization tracking Ukrainian kids abducted by Russian war criminals. With 30+ bipartisan colleagues, I’m urging Secretary Rubio to fund the Observatory until Congress approves our appropriations request to keep the program operating.
Only given a short amount of time to cross-examine Trump’s Treasury Sec. Bessent, you can hear my efforts to get to the bottom of what access he gave to Musk/DOGE of your personal, private data. While my questions weren't answered, the exchange makes my point that our deep concern is warranted.
DOGGETT: Are you sharing any information with DOGE for this omnibus information sharing agreement where they seem to probe into the privacy of every American? BESSENT: We are following all of the laws D: I would appreciate an answer to my question
UnitedHealth Medicare DisAdvantage plans are reportedly interfering with the delivery of emergency care for nursing home residents. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and I are demanding a thorough federal investigation and action from the Department of Justice.
Antisemitism has no place in our country. Standing alongside a bipartisan group of House colleagues, we solemnly honor the two young Israeli embassy staffers murdered last month in Washington, DC.
During Gun Violence Awareness Month, GOP worsens community safety by easing access to gun silencers that mask gunfire sounds & make it harder for law enforcement and the public to detect. We must reject GOP obstruction to ending this epidemic & continue fighting for commonsense laws that save lives.
Even if they draw new lines in a July special session, know that I will never give up and never give in. I am reinvigorated and determined to prevent Trump and his minions from destroying our democracy. (2/2)
