I’m in full solidarity with Granite City @steelworkers.bsky.social and I’m relieved the plant will stay open and continue receiving slabs. We must continue to make sure these jobs—with full compensation—are protected and U.S. Steel and Nippon keep their promises for the long term.
Military morale is on the line. Trump is ripping our National Guardsmen away from their families and jobs not to defend the nation— But to do his political dirty work here in D.C. This is not what our troops signed up for.
A screenshot of a news headline.
When “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” ended, we made clear: no one willing to sacrifice for this country should ever be told to hide who they are. Trump and Hegseth’s attacks on LGBTQ+ servicemembers take us back to a dark chapter in history—undermining morale, readiness and security.
ABC is a mega donor to Trump—and fired Jimmy Kimmel because Trump’s FCC said to. Even Ted Cruz agrees that this sets off a slippery slope in censorship. Senate Democrats are urging him to call on the FCC Chair to testify before Congress. Our constitutional rights are at stake.
A letter by Senate Commerce Committee Democrats to Chair Cruz requesting that he call Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr to testify before the Committee following his threats to use the regulatory power of the FCC to compel ABC to fire comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

Tear-gassing Americans exercising their constitutional rights. Cancelling critics and threatening to deploy the military against citizens. With every passing day, Trump is unraveling the freedoms that define American democracy—
 We will not be silenced.

Here’s the thing: Republicans control the House, the Senate and the White House. If they pass this dirty bill, they own the health care crisis. If it fails, they own the shutdown. That’s what you get when you go at it alone. Whatever outcome—Republicans will only have themselves to blame.
Every National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we honor the courageous servicemembers who refused to give up—even in the most harrowing of circumstances. We owe a debt to these heroes we can never fully repay.
NEWS: SASC Democrats and I are officially calling on Chair Wicker to hold on a hearing on Donald Trump's ongoing military deployments to cities across the country. Our nation's servicemembers and the American people deserve transparency.
A letter led by combat Veteran and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)—a member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC)—that is co-signed by her fellow SASC Democratic colleagues, urging Committee Chairman Wicker to hold a hearing with Department of Defense (DoD) leadership in order to evaluate Donald Trump’s ongoing military deployments to American cities and his efforts to redirect DoD resources away from core military missions to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and his authoritarian enforcement efforts.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we lift up and celebrate our loved ones, friends and neighbors in the Latino community.   We see their contributions in every corner of our country.   We hear their stories that Trump seeks to erase.   We celebrate them—always.
I am deeply disturbed by and closely monitoring the truly awful incident that occurred in Franklin Park today. As the situation develops, our community deserves the full, unvarnished details of what happened.
Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, the first responders who bravely ran into danger to save their neighbors and the families who still carry the weight of that tragic day. We will never forget.
Putin is testing NATO allies' commitment to mutual defense. Trump must make clear that our support for NATO is ironclad and also that we remain united against Putin's aggression— In Poland, Ukraine and beyond.
It does not matter which side you are on. There is simply no place for political violence in this country.   This is horrifying and should not happen in America.   I wish Charlie Kirk a swift and full recovery.

"This is not the action of someone that's doing something legal or that they're proud of" -- Duckworth says the Trump administration locked the doors and "fled the base" when she and other Democrats went to visit Great Lakes Naval Base

Duckworth: "Let's make it clear -- the President of the United States essentially just declared war on a major city in his own nation. This is not normal. This is not acceptable behavior."
