🚨 Day 9 update on the Republican government shutdown
I sent an email survey to 185k El Pasoans and more than 8 in 10 respondents say Republicans should work with us on extending health insurance tax credits for American families.
Our community knows what's at stake with the Republican shutdown.

Republicans would rather close the government than ensure Americans won't be kicked off their healthcare or watch their prices soar.
Federal employees and servicemembers are set to miss their paychecks this Friday, yet Republicans still refuse to even *meet* for negotiations.
There’s a reason Republicans keep lying about Democrats wanting to give free health insurance to the undocumented.
It’s because they want to take YOUR healthcare away and they’re hoping they distract you.
ACA tax credits are set to expire at the end of this year, but rate increase notices are already going out.
Here are just a few of the ways these subsidies help El Pasoans. They’re all reasons I’ll keep fighting.
Republicans control all of government, and their “go-it-alone” strategy is not appropriate. It’s time for bipartisan compromise.

These are called Pro Forma sessions and have to happen at least every three days for complicated procedural reasons.
HOWEVER, when Democratic members rose and asked to be recognized so that we could call a vote on our proposal to fund the government. We were ignored and Rs adjourned the House.

The clock is ticking. Democrats are in D.C. ready to negotiate and keep the government open. But that’s hard to do when House Republicans are on vacation.
If Republicans want our help, they know where to find us.
The absent House Republicans may claim, “We’ve already passed our bill!”
That’s true, but they did so knowing it would fail in the Senate. You can't blame a shutdown on us when you present an unworkable "solution" and then skip town.
Instead of negotiating with us, Republicans have resorted to spewing outlandish lies about what Democrats want in the hopes that they'll distract you with culture wars.
No, we aren't fighting for Medicaid for undocumented immigrants or transgender surgeries.
