Texas is the only state still unable to access federal funding for refugee services, leaving thousands of refugees in #TX07 and across Texas without vital support. I joined @repcasar.bsky.social, @repjuliejohnson.bsky.social, & TX Democratic colleagues in demanding the immediate release of funding.
On Saturday, with thanks to the Houston Passport Agency, Team #TX07 was able to help more than 200 of our neighbors with their passports!

With tariffs and their damaging effect on Americans top of mind for so many, I am glad to reintroduce the Pink Tariffs Study Act with @reppettersen.bsky.social to examine why women and working families pay so much more for products.

60 years ago today, hundreds of Americans marching from Selma to Montgomery to exercise their right to vote were attacked on what became Bloody Sunday. Today, the fight continues—which is why I have cosponsored the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. We must pass it.
In #TX07 and across the country, we provided a safe haven for Ukrainians who fled Russia's war of aggression—including children and people who needed critical medical care.
With this action, President Trump betrays both the people we welcomed and the principles we stand for.
The new Trump administration's orders an actions are impacting people in #TX07 and across our community.

NOAA provides emergency management officials with the information and tools they need to save lives and property during hurricane season. I joined @repbonamici.bsky.social demanding answers on Trump’s NOAA layoffs.
Yesterday, the Texas Congressional Delegation honored Sylvester Turner on the House floor and I honored my friend.
These are your hard-earned benefits and you deserve access to them when they're due.
Take it from Team #TX07 constituent advocates: processing time at the SSA was already too long. Cutting staff there will make it worse.
DOE employees keep affordable electricity flowing to American households every day. President Trump fired 1,800 of these public servants without cause or concern for the impact on our energy security. I joined my colleague @casten.house.gov demanding an end to these illegal firings.
Tariffs are not paid by foreign countries—they’re paid by us. Trump’s new import taxes will mean higher costs for businesses and higher prices for families. That’s not putting America first.
HUD, FEMA, and NOAA: agencies that Houstonians know better than many and have relied upon more than most.
It's not good for Houston or for anyone that the Trump administration is gutting these agencies.
Good explainer in the Chronicle. Read more ⬇️
Glad to join more than 175 @housedemocrats.bsky.social in filing an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court in opposition to the Trump administration's effort to dismantle the agency that protects American consumers.
Elon Musk's conflicts of interest are many and dangerous. We must exercise our oversight and protect the American people.
During our O&I hearing last week attacking the Biden DOE, we heard testimony that the the loan program office needed better controls for potential conflicts of interest the very day after our Republican colleagues refused to add oversight of DOGE to our committee plan.
Rather than fighting the bullies, they were the bullies.
This is not who we are. And we all must make that clear in every way we can. (2/2)
🧵: What we witnessed today from the President and Vice President of the United States in the Oval Office was a disgrace.
As representatives of the American People, they utterly failed us. They betrayed our values and our history. (1/2)
Don't miss this part:
"Project 2025 also suggested commercializing the National Weather Service, one of the agency’s most well-known arms, which provides weather forecasts and lifesaving warnings." [3/3]
"This loss of talent at NOAA is going to set the agency back years & compromise the integrity of missions that directly support human health and safety, economic prosperity and national security... This is not a move toward efficiency; it’s a move toward putting Americans in danger every day.” [2/3]
