Today we remember not only the devastation of the 9/11 attacks, but also the brave first responders & passengers of United 93 & how Americans stood united on that terrible day.
Let us strive to find that same faith in one another and continue our work to care for the victims' families & survivors.
Once you have committed violence, you have transcended politics and basic human decency entirely. If we fail to learn that lesson, our democracy will fail.
My friend and brother John Lewis would tell us that the term 'political violence' is an oxymoron. Politics is about resolving disagreements peacefully.
I am praying for Charlie Kirk, his family, and the safety of the entire Utah Valley University community.
Every American should condemn and reject acts of violence against those with whom we disagree. That is the exact opposite of what democracy is, and those who resort to violence only threaten our republic and our people's safety.
The Trump Admin's budget proposal would reinforce funding cuts for agencies and critical science initiatives that boost our national security & economy.
Watch @democrats-appropriations.house.gov push back on efforts to undermine investments in space and science at 10:30 a.m.:
None of the cuts that Trump, RFK Jr., & Vought have orchestrated over the last nine months have been scientifically or morally justifiable.
I am committed to working against Republicans' 'You're On Your Own' agenda and protecting the scientists, educators, & the Americans we serve.
Despite the ongoing cost-of-living & health crises, Republicans remain focused on securing tax cuts for the wealthy while leaving students, working families, and the most vulnerable Americans on their own.
Tune in now as @democrats-appropriations.house.gov fight back:
Trump refused to send the National Guard to defend the U.S. Capitol against violent insurrectionists on January 6 and later pardoned them of their crimes.
His recent deployment of U.S. troops in our Nation's Capital is nothing short of hypocritical.
We all want to reduce crime.
But what Donald Trump is doing in Washington D.C. is not about reducing crime – it’s a show of force against his political opponents and a loyalty test for his coalition.
The August jobs report reveals that the "short term pain" Trump claimed would boost American manufacturing has done the opposite.
His sweeping tariffs are stalling manufacturing employment and causing long term job uncertainty & increasingly higher costs.
www.americanprogress.org/article/trum...
The data doesn't lie. With just 22,000 jobs added & unemployment rising to 4.3%, the August jobs report reflects an alarming slow down in the job market.
Trump's disastrous policies continue to put our economy & the American people in a perilous position.
Republicans sit on their hands as Trump & Vought cut funding for agencies that protect against financial crimes, making it easier for the wealthy to evade the taxes they legally owe.
Democrats will keep fighting to ensure the American people aren't left vulnerable.
hoyer.house.gov/media/press-...
If the American people's representatives are irrelevant, our democracy is dead.
Trump and Vought are treating the bills that our Congress has passed as suggestions and telling Americans, 'You're On Your Own.' We must take action against the Administration's harmful agenda.
Since January, we've seen Trump and Vought politicize, weaponize, and illegally withhold funding from federal agencies to the detriment of the American people.
Tune in now as @democrats-appropriations.house.gov fight against these efforts to hinder the efficiency of our government:
Unless Congress asserts its authority, Republicans will keep diverting funds from programs and services that support medical research and public education.
@democrats-appropriations.house.gov will continue fighting against efforts to jeopardize the American people's success.
Trump, RFK Jr., and Vought are purging researchers, suspending medical trials, and slashing support for students in order to strengthen their own power.
Tune in at 5 p.m. today as @democrats-appropriations.house.gov fight to protect the health, safety, & education of the American people.
BARC has been an engine of agricultural research and innovation for over 100 years. Closing the site would be deeply harmful to American farmers and a waste of taxpayer dollars.
Team Maryland will fight the Trump Admin’s unlawful attacks on BARC, federal employees, and the services they provide.
American workers and labor unions are the backbone of our nation, working tirelessly to build a stronger and more prosperous nation for all.
This #LaborDay, let us honor their contributions and dedication by continuing the fight to protect their right to organize and collectively bargain.
