yeah, and emigrants definitely carry on paying their student loans back 😉
luckily we just had a massive bout of inflation so it's just getting shrunk by fiscal drag. £12.5k in 2025 pounds is only £9k in 2015 pounds when it was last increased.
yeah one of the slow burner destructive policies of the 2010-2015 government was "lifting the poorest out of tax" (by making the first £12.5k earned by _everyone_ tax free, a giveaway that definitionally gave more money to people earning over £12.5k than those earning less than it)
something worth remembering: graduates already pay a tax on the benefits of going to university. it's called "income tax". the government takes 20-45% of the increased earnings resulting from your university education.

After 68 hours of gameplay over 385 days I have finally finished FFVII Rebirth. It was overlong, narratively confused, flubbed its ending and withheld one of the best twists in gaming for its sequel in five years time. Millennials should play it

this is almost exactly as good as downloading a massive torrent file of pirated books is bad, or vice versa
this, from @sarahjeong.bsky.social, stuck with me www.theverge.com/policy/86857...
The fun thing about literally every use cash story is that they never ever ever account for the cost of cash handling
I think he’s almost certainly quoting revenue and @ironeconomist.bsky.social is just forgetting that most people - even most SME owners - don’t net out costs. But also it’s tax evasion
At last we have built the young lady’s illustrated primer from the book “the absence of human connection in the young lady’s illustrated primer will surely drive its users insane”
Wait! I tell a lie. There were seven council by-elections held under Truss, so a few thousand people did in fact vote conservative in that period
