2026-2028 needs to be about the entire Democratic Party setting the table for this. 2028-2032 needs to be about using all of the magical new powers of the presidency to do it. When the GOP screams that it's unprecedented, remind them of this court's utter contempt for precedence.

I didn't know the difference between a rent freeze on 1-year leases and a 3% increase could cause the citywide collapse of all NYC building maintenance! It didn't happen in 2015, 2016, or 2020, when rents on 1-year NYC leases were also frozen. Maybe it only happens if you yell "Socialism!" 3 times.
What next? I guess listening to a lot of invented scaremongering nonsense like this.
I finally caught up with Project Hail Mary and....unless the year takes an unexpected swerve, this is getting a zillion Oscar nominations, I think. Including, if justice prevails, one for Ryan Gosling. His great, light, resourceful, grounded performance is the rarely seen essence of movie stardom.
The evidence seems to suggest she's pretty niche! This was essentially marketed as Superman Part 1.5: Supergirl, Guest Starring Superman, Plus Lobo, and in the U.S., it will still earn less than one-third of what last year's movie made. The gross isn't a rejection of the movie but of the very idea.
You're right--people don't need to ask for a movie for it to be worth making. But Iron Man was (in movies and TV) an unknown quantity and a worthy gamble, bolstered by a bunch of movie stars. Whereas Supergirl was the focus of a not-very-watched TV series that ended only five years ago.
Right, which apparently takes place before the Superman films although James Gunn says it's still "very connected to the overall saga" but also works as a one-off and...this is feeling more and more like a game plan from a 2016 playbook.
I think this is right--the character has always been niche--and it also makes next year's Superman sequel less of an event than it would have been had this just been a gap year. Now it'll be a third installment following a failure rather than a sequel to a success.

I think about gay men during the AIDS crisis, in the face of what often seemed like utter hopelessness, using everything in the arsenal--rage, resolve, defiance, humor, sexual energy, imagination, and art--to prevent despair from ruling the day. Even Larry Kramer didn't simply say, "We're doomed."
There's way too much talk among Democrats right now that the 2028 nominee can't be black and can't be gay and can't be Jewish and can't be a woman. We are not good at this kind of "casting" crap and it usually bites us in the ass. We need to pick the right candidate, not the right type of candidate.
