The @energycommerce.bsky.social just advanced a Republican proposal that threatens to gut Medicaid—cutting up to $625 billion, imposing work requirements, & tighter eligibility checks. In MD, as many as 130,000 people could lose access to care. Make no mistake—the future of Medicaid is on the line.

President Donald J. Trump isn’t just criticizing judges—he’s waging a full-blown assault on the judiciary. Calling them “lunatics,” “crooked,” and “evil” isn’t free speech—it’s a calculated attack on the rule of law.

Earlier today, I participated in a hearing on funding for the federal judiciary. We know all too well the importance of providing strong, sustained support to protect judges. But funding alone is not enough. Congress must allocate the necessary resources & recognize that our words matter.
One year ago today, my 1st bill—the bipartisan Recruit and Retain Act—was signed into law by President Biden. This legislation strengthens law enforcement recruitment & retention efforts. During #NationalPoliceWeek, I reaffirm my commitment to support those who serve & protect our communities.
Instead of acknowledging National Women's Health Week, @housegop.bsky.social & the Trump administration are proposing billions of dollars in Medicaid cuts. @housedemocrats.bsky.social remain committed to supporting women's access to healthcare, across the country. #NationalWomensHealthWeek
We have selected our winner for the Annual Congressional Art Competition. Congratulations to Ms. Ibukun Akinterinwa from Charles H. Flowers High School! Her submission, ‘Nigerian Lady’ represents her roots, which are deeply connected to a culture rich in history, meaning, and beauty.
Does President Trump even care about the oath of office he took? Accepting a $400 million plane is corrupt and clearly a violation of the Constitution. He and those around him acting like this is acceptable behavior should be ashamed.
This week, House Republicans are finalizing their plans to cut $880 billion from Medicaid. Over 1.55 million Marylanders rely on Medicaid. Health care is a right, not a privilege. I am fighting back and voting NO on any budget proposals that harm YOU.
To all the moms, grandmas, and mother figures—thank you for your unwavering strength and boundless love. Today, we celebrate you—not just as a mother, but as incredible women who make life brighter every day.💖

This isn't trade policy; it's economic sabotage. Consumers are already seeing prices skyrocket on essentials like detergent, food, and clothing. And now, we're facing a global trade war that could send us into a recession. We need accountability, not chaos.

Congratulations to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV—formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost—on his election as the 267th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. As the first American-born pontiff, his leadership marks a profound moment for the global Church.

I am stunned and deeply disappointed to see Dr. Carla Hayden—our first woman and first Black Librarian of Congress—fired before her term was up. She championed access, equity, and knowledge. President Trump continues to wage his culture war against America’s finest cultural institutions.
President Trump's skinny budget includes devastating cuts to scientific research—slashing funding for NASA, the National Science Foundation, & the National Institutes of Health by billions. These cuts would be catastrophic to biotech and research institutions in Maryland. #ProtectResearch
Yesterday, I questioned FBI Director Kash Patel about the FBI’s budget request and priorities. I was encouraged to hear that Director Patel said he opposes cuts to the FBI’s budget. The White House should rethink these drastic cuts, which would be harmful to the FBI’s mission and its people.
In March, I sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee laying out why Ed Martin was an unqualified and dangerous pick for the U.S. Attorney for DC. I appreciate my Senate colleagues for opposing this unfit nominee.
