When disaster hits, we cannot only help those with certain legal status. We have an obligation to help every single person in need. This is unfathomable discrimination against immigrants that will cost our country lives. www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2025...
My thoughts are with all those grieving in Minneapolis today. The United States continues to be the ONLY COUNTRY where school shootings are a regular occurrence. We must stop this epidemic of gun violence and finally put the lives of our kids first. www.npr.org/2025/08/27/n...
The Israeli military bombed a Gaza hospital TWICE, killing 5 journalists and at least 15 others. They continue to violate both U.S. and international law. We must end our complicity in this massacre and stop providing the weapons that fuel this genocide. www.reuters.com/world/middle...
I’ve been hearing from business owners across our district about how Trump’s tariffs, trade wars, and immigration actions are affecting them. Listen to Joe Fugere, owner of Tutta Bella Pizzeria, discuss these challenges.
If this firing is successful, it will only further weaken our economy and your finances. The destruction of the Fed’s independence could put your retirement and college savings and your mortgage at risk. It could destroy your purchasing power and lead to faster inflation.
This authoritarian action by Trump is a cover-up for the fact that prices of everyday goods have continued to rise under his administration. He has failed to lower costs and build an economy that works for everyone — giving his billionaire buddies a giant tax break instead.
Last night, Trump tried to fire Federal Reserve Board Member Lisa Cook — a wholly illegal move that would kneecap the Fed’s independence and further wreck our economy’s stability. Let’s break it down 🧵 www.cnbc.com/2025/08/25/t...
NEW: With @raskin.house.gov & @crockett.house.gov, I’m demanding info from Tom Homan on his potential conflicts of interest w/ private for-profit prisons. Govt officials shouldn't be funneling taxpayer $$ to corporations they used to work for. We need answers. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
Trump’s authoritarian DC takeover has cost more than $15 MILLION. How could we better spend that taxpayer money? - 1,558 public housing units. - 1,172 Head Start slots. - VA medical care for 882 veterans. - Health care for 5,219 low-income children. What an absolute disgrace.
UPDATE: A Judge said the Trump administration is "absolutely forbidden" from removing "Mr. Abrego Garcia from the continental United States." Trump's lawyer responded with: "Your honor, yes, we certainly understand that."
FEMA employees say that Trump’s cuts to the agency are catastrophic and could cause a disaster on the level of Hurricane Katrina. That means thousands of potential deaths and entire communities destroyed. Reverse the cuts and protect the American people. www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2025...
Trump and Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid will directly cause more preventable deaths in communities across America. It’s cruel, inhumane, and unimaginable — and it’s all in service of a giant tax break for the richest corporations and billionaires.
Back-to-school season should be an exciting time for kids and families. But this year, folks are facing skyrocketing costs for school supplies thanks to Trump’s reckless trade wars and bad economic policies. It’s time to tackle inflation and lower costs for working families.
