At UToledo, Sophomore Rocket Miriam Diala was greeted after a hard fought win by her mother Francisca, who traveled 4,300 miles to see her daughter play women's college basketball at UT in person for the first time. Just imagine the embrace in the stands, the tears, the joy, and the gratitude.

Sharing an urgent plea for small family owned farms, especially across the American Heartland and the NW Ohio communities I represent. Over the past year, they've endured setback after setback, including the driest spells in more than a decade and lost export markets across the world due to tariffs.

Celebrating success as Wayman D. Palmer YMCA receives the 2025 Audrey Nelson Community Development Achievement Award! This national honor recognizes what NW Ohio already knows: our YMCA is a transformative hub for health, opportunity, and hope. A true investment in our future.
So pleased to recognize and honor the remarkable young NW Ohioans I nominated to our US Service Academies. Their dedication to service reflects courage, discipline, and love of country. Our region is stronger because of their commitment, and our nation will be safer because of their leadership!
Yesterday I voted to reopen our government, while pressing for ICE and CBP reforms to keep our communities safe and uphold our Constitution and the rule of law and order. With DHS operations and funding isolated, we can focus squarely on urgent reforms the American people demand for these agencies.
Today the Congressional Ukraine Caucus hosted a press conference to kick off #UkrainianWeek. We heard from many Ukrainian advocates, families, and those directly affected by Putin’s illegal war. Their stories are powerful reminders that Ukraine’s fight for Liberty matters in every corner of America.
Last week, VP Vance came to Toledo claiming “record” job growth. Here’s the reality: families face higher costs, tariffs are costing manufacturing jobs, and over $200M in approved federal infrastructure and manufacturing investments here were cut by this Administration. Ohio deserves better.
I’m deeply honored to receive the CWA District 4 People’s Champion Award. Unions are the backbone of the middle class—lifting wages, protecting dignity, and giving workers a real voice. Thank you to @cwaunion.bsky.social for your solidarity and strength. #CWAStrong
On this day in 1940, the first Social Security check went out—$22.54. That was dignity, security, and peace of mind. Nearly a century later, Social Security remains a promise kept for the 178,000 neighbors who rely on it in NW Ohio, I’ll always stand guard against threats to this earned benefit.
Our public lands and water are irreplaceable. Cuts that destabilize land stewardship threaten clean water for Millions, put our Great Lakes fisheries and outdoor economies at risk, and undermine decades of work to restore and protect these precious shared resources. Our future depends on action NOW.
Remembered and honored an extraordinary American, Steven Dean Fought. With deepest gratitude on behalf of all Americans, and Ohioans, we recognize the life of an honored, and indefatigable public servant in the truest sense. To know Steve was to know you would never meet his likes again.
BILLIONS are flowing to private detention companies that bankrolled campaigns, which means fewer resources for working families and local communities. When federal dollars reward insiders instead of transparency and fairness, taxpayers pay the price. Not exactly draining the swamp.
A big thank you to Sylvania Schools for the warm welcome at Northview and Southview High Schools! Seeing students hands-on in career-tech programs—building real skills for tomorrow’s workforce—was inspiring. Grateful to the dedicated staff and student tour guides for sharing their time and talents!
