Released the following statement today, alongside Congressman Steny Hoyer, Congressman Bill Keating, and Congressman Jim Costs in response to President Donald Trump’s threat to withdraw the United States from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Alliance.
As Americans across the Heartland and from coast to coast pile into cars to travel for the Easter Holiday Weekend gas is averaging $4.09 a gallon nationwide and diesel is $5.53 a gallon. Nobody I know asked for gas to go up over $1 a gallon in just over a month, but here we are.
Reckless across the board tariffs have raised prices, slowed growth, weakened the job market, and hurt our farmers. Families in NW Ohio are struggling to make up for this Administration’s carelessness.
After everything FirstEnergy put NW Ohio through—the corruption, the broken trust, the real pain felt by families—this mistrial feels like a failure of accountability. Ohioans deserve clarity, justice, and answers for the real harm done.We need ratepayer justice now!
The President has already cut funding for food assistance, childcare, Medicare, Medicaid, and more—his preference is tax breaks for Billionaires, skyrocketing national debt, and unconstitutional wars.
As Passover begins at sundown, we extend warm wishes to all who are gathering around the Seder table. Wishing you a meaningful holiday surrounded by family and friends. #ChagPesachSameach
It is inspiring to see a new generation of Northwest Ohioans, like aerospace engineer Anthony Ellis II, carry that legacy forward on missions such as Artemis II, launching into space today.
Ohio, the Buckeye State has long been synonymous with aviation achievement and American ingenuity. From the Wright Brothers to astronauts John Glenn and Neil Armstrong, to flight director Eugene Kranz, our state has pushed the boundaries of exploration, from first flight to journeys among the stars.

As #WomensHistoryMonth comes to a close, I rose to recognize NW Ohio trailblazer Louise Brower. In 1975 she broke barriers becoming the first woman to serve as a Principal of a large metropolitan Ohio High School. At Scott High she led with strength, dignity and an unwavering belief in her students.
Great afternoon at the Ottawa County Farm Bureau Legislative Lunch where I provided an update on my work in Congress to get a new Farm Bill that helps address skyrocketing costs of fertilizer and diesel and allows for planning for years to come. NW Ohio farmers, producers, and growers need our help.
During #WomensHistoryMonth we honor, recognize and celebrate Ohio Extension Agent Amy Stone for 33 years of extraordinary vigilant service to the agricultural community of Ohio through The Ohio State University Extension. Amy Stone has left NW Ohio stronger, healthier and greener than she found it.
We are now more than one month into an undeclared War in Iran, and now the Administration will move American ground troops in harm’s way just days before the Passover and Easter holidays.
Roger Carpenter was a patriot and dear citizen who devoted 75 years of his life to shaping character, citizenship, and service in Oak Harbor in NW Ohio. For generations of young people in Troop 316 he was a Scoutmaster who taught values, and was a steady hand, who personified the Scout Oath and Law.
Time will tell, but history will poorly judge those who decided to play politics with the lives and livelihoods of countless Americans. If they leave town without solving their own crisis, may it weigh heavily on their conscience.

It is a policy choice to turn a blind eye on TSA workers as America's airports have hours long lines, and millions of travelers from near and far are caught in the crossfire. I stand ready to vote once Speaker Johnson sees that recklessness has failed.
