I appreciated all 23 teams’ app submissions during this year’s competition, and was happy to be able to honor them all today. Their passion and creativity will enhance their computer science and coding skills for a bright future in the workforce. You are all winners in my book.
Congratulations to Ishan Chopra of Sandusky Middle School for winning Ohio’s 9th Congressional District 2023 Congressional App Challenge. Ishan’s mobile application, “GOALS” is designed for users to learn the basics of soccer ⚽️. He truly found the back of the net. #HouseOfCode
Shame on US Steel for proposing to sell off another lodestar American industry. Yet again, shareholders line their pockets while letting America down and threatening domestic manufacturing. US Steel, given the chance, ought to remain Authentically American. usw.to/4uh
Glad to host Secretary Jennifer Granholm today and discuss how we can modernize energy systems across NW Ohio. We toured the Toledo Wastewater Treatment facility, met with labor leaders involved in training workers for the future, and visited Nature Fresh Farms in Fulton County.
A year of obstruction ends with months wasted searching for a Speaker and on another Impeachment inquiry. We have real work to do to cut costs for Americans, deliver aid abroad, and reform immigration—instead we were sent home.
Honored to meet with President Zelenskyy today—we discussed the urgent need to pass funding for Ukraine to have the military armaments and supplies she needs to defend herself and win this war for Liberty. Freedom means never surrender.
This is a gamechanger for our people. I am proud to see companies recognize the value of our communities, and bring jobs to the Great Lakes Heartland where the skills exist, the supply chain exists, and the automotive heart of our nation strongly beats.
Together, the company, the UAW, and all levels of government made great efforts to keep these jobs in the Great Lakes Heartland where the skills exist, the supply chain exists, and where the automotive heart of our nation strongly beats.
The harsh news about potential layoffs of 1,000+ at the Jeep-Stellantis plant in Toledo was deeply troubling. I am pleased that the UAW has been working for its members to derail the harsh actions proposed by the company.
While leading the Republican Study Committee, Speaker Johnson released a plan to cut Medicare and Social Security. This would be catastrophic in OH-09 where 1 in 3 households rely on their hard earned benefits. I will never support cuts to Medicare or Social Security.
Thrilled USDOT has selected the CLE-SKY-TOL-DET corridor for the first round of funding in expanding and improving passenger rail service. Northern Ohio's connections to Chicago, Pittsburgh, Canada, and beyond will be enhanced because of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Congratulations to Perrysburg, Ohio native Jim Leyland on election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Jim managed 3,499 games over 27 years—was manager of the year 3 times—and managed the 1997 World Series champion Marlins. NW Ohio is proud of Jim’s legacy and his time with the nearby Tigers.
Everyone should be able to access safe drinking water. Today we are one step closer to that goal with proposed improvements to the Lead and Copper Rule to reduce lead in drinking water. I will continue to work with the EPA to champion efforts to improve our drinking water quality.
Open Enrollment season continues through Jan 15th—now is the time to take action heading into the New Year! Whether you are looking for new coverage or to update your existing plan—enroll by Dec 15th for coverage starting Jan 1st. Explore your options at HealthCare.gov.
As a lifelong Ohioan and also a Michigan alumna, I’m not picking favorites today. If I have a wish, it’s for a safe and competitive matchup worthy of this legendary 126 year rivalry.
As America demonstrates that an all of the above energy strategy works, we produced more oil than ever. Investing in renewables and bringing new energy industry jobs to our region of northern Ohio—we can be energy independent and continue to create climate solutions of tomorrow.
The United States is producing more crude oil than at any time in history: 13.2 million barrels per day. It was 10.9 the week Biden took office. The previous pre-COVID all-time high was 13.1. It was ~5 when Obama took office. www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/his...
