As 2025 comes to a close, I wrote about the challenges we face and the work ahead. Government must work for people. That means more housing, health and child care as well as more accountability and less chaos and high costs. That’s my North Star for 2026.

Merry Christmas! Wishing everyone across Minnesota and around the world a joyful day with the people you love. 🎄✨
Months ago I asked for Ag Department staff numbers as small farm bankruptcies hit a 5-year high. I finally got them & it’s what we thought all along:
USDA lost 20% of employees in 2025, undermining efforts to combat avian flu, help farmers hurt by tariffs & support small towns.

FCC Commissioner Gomez is right. This FCC’s unprecedented threats against broadcasters are already suppressing free speech by sending the message that media companies hosting content critical of the President will invite government retaliation. That is censorship and not what America stands for.

To my congressional Republican colleagues: The first order of business when Congress returns in the new year must be lowering Americans’ health insurance premiums. Otherwise, millions will lose their insurance or see a doubling of their premiums.
In New Ulm with Governor Walz and Minnesota military leaders to mark the opening of the new National Guard Readiness Center. This modern facility will better support our National Guard. Thank you to all who serve.
You can always count on the Canadians! Just another reason to be glad Canada is Canada and not Trump’s 51st state…

In St. Louis Park with Julie Paidar, her daughter Meagan, and local firefighters to highlight my bipartisan Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act becoming law. After firefighter Mike Paidar died of leukemia, we worked together to support families facing service-related cancers.
What’s worse than stealing presents from under the tree?
Cartoon from the New Yorker.
NEWS: After I called on the FTC to investigate, Instacart is ending its practice of charging some customers more for the same product. Americans shouldn’t be forced to pay more for groceries because of dynamic pricing.
The stories of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russian forces are haunting.
With the passage of my bipartisan bill, we are helping track and reunite these children with their families. We will keep fighting for these kids.
When our veterans stepped up to serve, there was no waiting line—and there shouldn’t be one now. Risking veterans’ access to earned care by eliminating tens of thousands of VA health care jobs is unacceptable, and our veterans deserve better.

Love seeing members of the St. Paul Police Department, joined by special guests Santa & Mrs. Claus, visiting Children’s Minnesota to deliver toys and spread joy to patients and families.🎅🦌

Trump’s reckless tariffs have increased the prices of holiday gifts — costing families an extra $130 on average.
Americans shouldn’t have to pay more to give gifts this holiday season.

Turns out most Americans aren’t fans of Donald Trump jacking up costs on families in the midst of an affordability crisis.

This, as usual, is all about Trump’s ego, not the American people.

Exactly zero veterans think the problem with the VA health care system is that there are *too many* staff providing care.
But Trump's VA has now decided it won't fill thousands of open positions.
We need answers about what this will mean for veterans.
My bipartisan bill with Senator Grassley was signed into law.
We cannot allow children to be used as hostages in war.

After years of fighting alongside Julie Paidar, whose husband, firefighter Mike Paidar, died of leukemia in 2020, we finally passed the Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act to ensure the families of firefighters who die from service-related cancers get the support they deserve.
It was wonderful to join Senator Coons to thank our U.S. Capitol Police officers this holiday season, including with some cookies!
I enjoyed speaking with Chief Sullivan and the dedicated men and women who keep members, visitors & staff safe every day.
