Today I took my five minutes at Armed Services to call out Pete Hegseth to his face instead of giving him an opportunity to spew out even more of his convoluted BS.
Rihan is in a cell in Plymouth right now because his dad, Zia, was an interpreter for U.S. forces in Afghanistan. I met with Zia while he was in ICE custody himself last summer - he spoke with such pride about his kids. We will fight this. https://loom.ly/5qjnEnY
The 25th Amendment warrants attention and discussion, even if we know we can’t necessarily depend on a cabinet full of people chosen for their allegiance to Trump to initiate the process.
The Speaker must reconvene Congress so we can hold hearings and cast votes to reign in this out of control President and his actions, his words, and his illegal war of choice.

Yesterday I spoke in support of passing the ALERT Act - and in support of bringing the ROTOR Act back to the floor for a vote - so that we can stop reacting to tragic accidents and near-misses and instead prevent them from happening in the first place.
Today, I voted with Dems on the House Foreign Affairs Committee to subpoena Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner to testify on Iran and Ukraine. GOP voted no.
House GOP must demand transparency, accountability, and public testimony from this administration. The American people deserve it.
The Trump administration cut State Dept funding to assist on investigating Putin’s war crimes, and just like Marco Rubio, the Undersecretary in charge of those cuts is refusing - under oath - to even say whether or not Putin is a war criminal.
I am disturbed, horrified, and unsurprised with this administration's continued, cruel attacks on science and global health. This is yet another example of the Trump administration playing politics with the health and well being of those who need help. It must stop.
A pleasure to see Taoiseach Micheál Martin on St. Patrick's Day to reaffirm the US-Ireland relationship.
The stories of Ireland and America are so often interlinked, and today is a reminder that we will always celebrate our enduring and long-lasting friendship.
I will be voting to cease hostilities with Iran.

Tonight, I voted with the majority of my colleagues to end Trump's tariffs on Canada, one of our closest allies.
These tariffs are not only unpopular, they are hurting our economy & our alliances.
I urge my Senate colleagues to take up the bill & send it to the President's desk.
Tariffs are raising costs on American families and hurting small businesses throughout our region and around the US. Now, instead of doing their jobs and working to lower costs for the American people, the GOP is trying to block a vote on ending these tariffs in a show of loyalty to Trump.
The agents who were on the scene of Alex Pretti’s murder should be on leave, not out working in a different state. Here’s my letter to Sec. Noem, demanding that she follow DHS policy by removing these agents from the streets and guaranteeing their cooperation. Full letter: https://loom.ly/DCOhnoM
All eyes are now on the Senate as members face pending action on DHS appropriations. It’s not a hard choice - I made it last week - vote no. Don’t be complicit. I’m also encouraged by news that more and more colleagues are joining me in co-sponsoring articles of impeachment against Secretary Noem.
Important steps are being taken by the AG’s office to preserve evidence and ensure justice for Alex Pretti, and we’ve already seen a court order to do just that thanks to AG Ellison’s quick action.
I got off our emergency House Dems virtual caucus meeting a little earlier, where I was grateful to hear from Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and Governor Tim Walz, two former House colleagues, about what they’re encountering in dealing with the administration’s lawlessness in Minneapolis.
Watch the videos. Share them. Count the shots. It’s not easy to watch - and it shouldn’t be. But every American must understand what federal agents are doing in our names, and we must believe our eyes.
My full statement in the image below (with alt text):
Today, I spoke on the phone with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola to discuss the transatlantic relationship, tariff threats, & bolstering shared security.
The EU is an indispensable ally, including in the Arctic, & the transatlantic alliance is stronger when we work together.
Yesterday, I met with Venezuelan Opposition Leader María Corina Machado. I thanked her for her leadership and courage and expressed my support with my bipartisan House Foreign Affairs colleagues for the democratic aspirations of the Venezuelan people.
Secretary Noem is stomping on the rules of our government and the very democratic ideals our country was founded on. She has proven herself repeatedly to be unfit for her job and should be held accountable.
