The failures of DHS run far deeper than who holds the title of secretary. Americans deserve accountability for the lives that have been taken in our streets and the lawlessness we continue to see from ICE and CBP. 2/2
I voted against moving Senator Mullin’s nomination for DHS Secretary forward because there’s a rot deep to the core of this administration. 1/2
Trump is trying to price you out of voting and give your power to his billionaire donors with the SAVE America Act.   As a father, I refuse to let my kids grow up in a country doomed by Donald Trump.
I stand ready to hold this administration accountable. It’s time for public hearings. It’s time they answer your questions about this war with no plan.
Tonight, on the Senate floor, I will call up my War Powers Resolution to withdraw U.S. forces from this reckless and unauthorized war of choice with Iran. The Senate must do its job and hold this administration accountable.
Noem’s $100K FEMA approval policy kept vital funds from communities after natural disasters. I worked with RM @peters.senate.gov to expose its dangerous impacts.   Today, I got DHS secretary nominee Mullin to commit to revoking this harmful policy if he is confirmed. We must hold him to it.
It was an honor to join the Congressional Dads Caucus for their first-ever National Summit on the Caregiving Crisis. Care is the backbone of our economy. As a member of the Sandwich Generation, I promise to fight for the care our loved ones, from our kids to our aging parents, deserve.
Recently, I met with leaders from NJ American Legion. We discussed the need to expand access to healthcare, including mental health services, for veterans, and end veteran homelessness. I look forward to continuing to fight to ensure all NJ veterans get the support they need.
International students are valuable members of our colleges, universities, communities, and help drive the growth and innovation we see in New Jersey and around the country.
If you're waiting in a TSA line, you can thank Senate Republicans for rejecting Democrats' proposal to fund TSA. We can support TSA workers while we hold this administration accountable. Last week, Republicans chose Trump over you.
Long lines and delays are growing at some US airports as hundreds of Transportation Security Administration workers — going without full pay during the partial government shutdown — have quit or taken unscheduled leave. https://cnn.it/4uEigSf
I am relieved that Leqaa Kordia has been released from ICE’s custody and is finally free. This should never have happened. Thank you to all in NJ who stood up for Leqaa. Because of you, she is now able to be reunited with her family.
As a member of the Sandwich Generation, I understand what it's like to take care of young kids while also caring for aging parents. No one should struggle to provide care to their loved ones.
Senate Republicans are holding TSA, FEMA, and Coast Guard funding hostage to give more money to agencies that have killed Americans on our streets. We can fund TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard without funding ICE and CBP. Republicans just refuse to.
REMINDER: Democrats tried SIX TIMES to fund the parts of DHS that Congress agrees on—like paying TSA workers, FEMA, and cyber defense. Republicans blocked us every single time.
Last week, I sat down with the NJ Restaurant and Hospitality Association to hear about the top issues facing restaurants and employees in NJ.

I look forward to ways we can partner to support our state's small businesses and the working families that visit them.
