🎉 Congratulations @caltrain.com on one year of electrified service! 🎉 Electrification helps reduce greenhouse gases and highway congestion, leaving a better world for our children and grandchildren, and I’m proud that California is leading in green transportation.
I’m now co-sponsoring @repyassansari.bsky.social’s resolution condemning the use of the FCC to punish the President’s political opponents. If House conservatives truly care about free speech, they’d join too.
My parents fled an authoritarian regime—I know that attacking free speech is part 1 of the playbook. I led over half the caucus and @wgawest.bsky.social in a resolution condemning the firing of Jimmy Kimmel, this blatant attack on free speech and opposing authoritarian government censorship.
I don’t want a budget that drives up healthcare costs and continues Trump’s disastrous tariffs. But that’s exactly what the Republican spending bill is. Republicans have total control of government, and they’ve put up a bill today that will only cost Americans more money.

Voters should be free to choose their representatives, not the other way around. That's why @padilla.senate.gov, @lofgren.house.gov, our colleagues, and I are introducing the Redistricting Reform Act. It's time to make sure that our elected officials truly represent the people.
@whipkclark.bsky.social @aguilar.house.gov @ross.house.gov @juliabrownley.house.gov @commoncause.org @repmarcveasey.bsky.social @replsimon.bsky.social @usrepjimmypanetta.bsky.social @repluzrivas.bsky.social @pelosi.house.gov @chu.house.gov @repmarkdesaulnier.bsky.social @mikethompson.house.gov
Today, I joined @padilla.senate.gov, @schiff.senate.gov, and my House colleagues to re-introduce my Redistricting Reform Act. It’s time to put an end to Trump’s gerrymandering war and establish independent redistricting nationwide.
Trump and FCC Chair Brendan Carr are launching the worst assault on free speech in modern American history. First it’s Jimmy Kimmel, and now they’re threatening Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers. This admin’s stance is that no speech is protected unless it’s speech Trump agrees with.
House Republicans voted yesterday to BLOCK the House from voting on Trump’s tariffs until March 2026. Congress is a coequal branch of government, and Republicans just bent the knee to Trump at the expense of our constituents. What a shameful dereliction of duty.
238 years ago, the U.S. Constitution was adopted. It protects our freedom, and on this #ConstitutionDay, I reaffirm my oath to support and defend the Constitution against any attack, foreign and, now importantly domestic.
The FBI thinks that diverting agents to remove Trump’s name from the Epstein files is a high priority, but Director Patel can’t even answer a basic question: how many times is the President’s name mentioned?
I am very sad to say that Sasha Podkolzina, a valued member of my staff, passed away this morning. A brilliant lawyer, she did marvelous work in my San Jose office, achieving life-changing results for many. I know that those whose lives she touched join us in mourning her loss.
Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. They are nowhere near avoiding the looming government shutdown in 15 days. They own this. Democrats are ready to protect healthcare and working families. Where are my Republican colleagues?
We’re just one month away from a potential government shutdown, and Trump & House Republicans have no plan to avert this disaster so far. They don’t even want to meet with Democrats. Instead of finding a bipartisan path out of this, they just want to play politics.
La vida en los EEUU es infinitamente más rica gracias a nuestras comunidades latinas. En este Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana, honramos y celebramos esas contribuciones en #CA18 y en la nación.
American life is immeasurably richer thanks to our Latino communities. This National Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor and celebrate those contributions in #CA18 and throughout the nation.
As climate emergencies become more frequent, we must do all we can to address America’s environmental & energy challenges. This week, I met with Dr. Majumdar from the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability to discuss the latest research & innovation happening in California to tackle these problems.
