The Trump administration wants to eliminate the Roadless Rule, a critical safeguard for pristine areas of our national forests, including parts of Los Padres National Forest within #CA18. Make your voice heard before public comment closes in 2 weeks: forestwatch.org/news/trump-a...
As the Ranking Member of the House Science Committee, let me say that RFK Jr's Senate testimony today was a self-contradicting, anti-science circus act. We deserve public health leaders that make evidence-based decisions, not one that peddles conspiracy theories like Secretary Kennedy.
I just walked off the House floor to vote NO on House Republicans' bill that will slash $1.6 billion from energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. Americans don't need Republicans driving up their energy costs.
House Republicans have voted to create a new January 6th subcommittee, seemingly so they can gaslight America and make excuses for Trump and the insurrection he incited. I served on the original J6 Committee, and I won’t let anybody distort the facts of that terrible day.
I signed the Epstein discharge petition. The heavily redacted files released last night, 97% of which were already in the public record, won’t suffice. We need full transparency now.
Here’s what the files Republicans just “released” look like. Who’s to say Trump’s name isn’t behind those black boxes? Release the full files and bring justice to the women and children survivors.
Republicans spent the summer stripping healthcare from millions of Americans and preventing the Epstein files from being released, but not much time on figuring out how to avoid a government shutdown.
Trump took National Guard soldiers away from their jobs and families for no good reason. I'm encouraged by the district court ruling declaring his stunt in Los Angeles illegal, but more needs to be done by Congress to put a check on the President's authoritarian bent.
Breaking News: President Trump’s deployment of thousands of Marines and National Guard troops to Los Angeles was illegal, a federal judge ruled.
I grew up in a union household, the daughter of a Teamster member truck driver. I know how important the rights to unionize & collectively bargain are for creating an economy that works for everyone. This #LaborDay, I'm thankful for the unions who are protecting the American dream.
Rain or shine, our hard-working letter carriers work tirelessly to get Californians' mail where it needs to go. I proudly stand with these public servants against efforts to undermine the Postal Service, & I thank CA State Assoc. of Letter Carriers for inviting me to speak at their state conference.
We’re just one month away from a potential government shutdown, and Trump & House Republicans have no plan to avert this disaster so far. They don’t even want to meet with Democrats. Instead of finding a bipartisan path out of this, they just want to play politics.
Glad to tour @ucsantacruz.bsky.social’s AgTech Alliance center to see the latest ag technologies.
Focusing on sustainable, ethical & socially responsible technologies is vital to the longevity of our ag industry.
The first week of school should be a time of hope and joy for our children and teachers, not trauma. My heart breaks for Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis after today’s tragic shooting. We must protect our schools and act to address America’s gun violence crisis.
Great to join @graniterockco for a tour of their quarry & to learn about their sustainability practices. The quarry is an economic cornerstone in Aromas, CA, providing the crushed stone necessary for most of Northern & Central CA construction projects.
We should celebrate small businesses like Annieglass, which use opportunities created by bipartisan federal programs to invest in solar, reduce greenhouse gasses & attack climate change. (1/2)
Community health centers provide preventative & life-saving healthcare services. The Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law will cut their funding. I was glad to meet with Bay Area community healthcare workers to thank them for their continued work.
We must work to end the scourge of gun violence. That is why I am cosponsoring @repmarkdesaulnier.bsky.social's Advancing Gun Safety Technology Act. This sensible bill focuses on safety & reducing harm – non-gun owners & gun owners alike should support it. desaulnier.house.gov/media-center...
Thank you to the @HollisterRotary for inviting me to share a federal update. It was constructive to talk with community members about healthcare, science, & education funding for San Benito County.
Thank you @SupBettyDuong & @SCCgov leaders for inviting me to speak about the impacts of H.R. 1 on our communities. I was glad to provide updates on H.R. 1 & federal science enterprises & share my perspective on Trump’s horrific immigration policies.
