This is your daily reminder: Republicans gutted Medicaid, Medicare & SNAP to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires. The worst impacts are delayed—but that’s intentional. The pain comes later to dodge accountability, but we’ll remember in November.
We just reintroduced the bipartisan DIGNITY Act—a real fix for our broken immigration system. It secures the border, protects Dreamers, and creates a fair path to legal status. No more chaos. No more cruelty. Just security, humanity, and action. Let’s get this done.
The Trump admin is slashing the very programs that predict, prevent, and respond to disasters like the deadly Texas flood. Climate chaos is here, costing lives and billions. Ignoring it won’t stop it. Security means being prepared. Let’s get serious. www.propublica.org/article/texa...

Cutting 30,000 VA jobs while vets wait longer for care is a disgrace. Nurses doing admin work, claims delayed, hospitals understaffed—this isn’t saving money, it’s failing those who served. Veterans deserve better. America should do better.
Carlsbad Mayor Pro Tem Priya Bhat-Patel joined our Democracy Summer Fellows for a discussion on local politics and how to make change in our dynamic political environment. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Earlier today, we reintroduced the bipartisan DIGNITY Act, and I want to thank Congresswomen Escobar and Salazar for their leadership. This is a serious, good-faith effort to fix our broken immigration system with both SECURITY and HUMANITY. 🧵👇🏻
Today, as 10 Democrats and 10 Republicans, we took the first step as original cosponsors. We are all united to act. Let’s get this done.
This bill isn’t perfect — but it’s far better than the status quo. It rejects mass deportations and recognizes that we can enforce the law and keep families together. These ideas aren’t mutually exclusive — they’re fundamentally American.
But that dream is slipping away. Too many live in fear, stuck in limbo. Too many politicians offer only cruelty or chaos.
They started a small business, raised four daughters, and lived the American Dream. Now their grandson serves in Congress. That’s how it’s supposed to work in this country.
You might not know it from my last name, but my mom’s parents came here from Mexico as children, chasing the promise of a better life.
The DIGNITY Act strengthens border security, protects Dreamers, offers a path to legal status for undocumented immigrants who work and pay taxes, and upholds the rule of law. It also requires background checks and English proficiency — ensuring fairness and accountability.

The Supreme Court just gave Trump the green light to gut the Department of Education. That means fewer staff, frozen aid, and chaos for public schools. Students with disabilities and kids in struggling districts will feel it first. This weakens our future, not strengthens it.
As a public school parent, I am disgusted. Trump froze $50 million meant for San Diego schools—money for summer programs, teacher training, and support our students COUNT on. This isn’t serious governance. It’s reckless politics at the expense of our children.. fox5sandiego.com/news/local-n...

The Supreme Court is allowing President Trump to dismantle the Department of Education with the stroke of a pen. As a parent with two kids in public school, I believe that should concern every American—no matter your politics. 🧵👇🏻
Trump just got the green light to gut the Department of Education with zero input from Congress. That means fewer protections for kids with disabilities, less support for local schools, and more power in the hands of one man. We should move the next generation forward, not backward.
