Azerbaijan's plan to sentence Armenian hostages to life imprisonment is a deep injustice. Following the ethnic cleansing of Armenians from Artsakh, President Aliyev continues to show a blatant disregard for human rights. He must uphold due process and release these hostages now.
Screenshot of headline that reads "Azerbaijan hands long prison terms to former Karabakh officials." Full text of story linked in reply.
Trump wants to replace dedicated civil servants with yes-men who will carry out his criminal agenda without questions. Federal workers have a right to do their jobs, free from illegal political interference.
Screenshot of headline that reads "Trump administration plans to reclassify 50,000 federal workers, making them easier to fire." Full text of story linked in reply.
As history teaches us, the only way to win a nuclear arms race is to refuse to run. As New START expires, I'm arguing for a continued U.S. policy of disarmament—rooted in treaties, inspections, and verification.
Screenshot of headline that reads “Opinion: The last U.S.-Russia nuclear arms control treaty is expiring. We must stop a new arms race. By Edward J. Markey.” Full text of article in post.
The Family and Medical Leave Act became law 33 years ago today. It’s been a lifeline to millions, but Congress must secure #PaidLeaveForAll. Paid leave is good for Main Street, it’s good for families, and it’s good for our future.
Anthropic has announced that Claude will remain ad-free. I’m glad to see @anthropic.com agrees that ads in AI chatbots can pose serious risks to its users. That’s why I opened an investigation into AI chatbots’ advertising plans. Companies must put consumers first.
Trump's immigration crackdown is also about stealing the 2026 election. Trump and MAGA Republicans know they can't win at the ballot box, so they are setting the stage to deploy Trump's private army of ICE thugs against American voters. We must protect our elections.
Breaking: The White House press secretary just said she "can't guarantee" that ICE won't be around polling locations in November.
Oil and natural gas are expensive—and dirty—ways to power our grid. The solution isn’t to get more dependent on expensive power—it’s for Trump and MAGA Republicans to stop blocking cheap, clean energy and stop raising prices by exporting gas abroad.
Screenshot of headline that reads "Letters to the Editor. Senator Edward J. Markey: What's really keeping energy bills high." Full text of article linked in reply.
My constituent, Juan David’s habeas petition was denied yesterday. If he is removed from the United States, it will erase all avenues for protection. ICE must allow more time for his T visa relief process to be fully adjudicated.
The Trump administration wants to roll back the fuel economy standards that have saved Americans millions of dollars at the pump. We’re calling on Secretary Duffy to quit caving to the fossil fuel industry and keep the public’s gas pump and health costs down.

Orwellian surveillance tools have no place in a democracy. That is why I introduced the ICE Out of Our Faces Act—to stop ICE and CBP from using dangerous and discriminatory facial recognition technologies. This must end now.
Photo of Senators Markey, Merkley, and Rep. Jayapal behind a podium. Podium sign reads "end ICE and CBP facial recognition now."
President Trump has said he wants to reduce nuclear arsenals. Sticking with New START limits and seeking a new treaty is the best way to do that. Trump does not want to be the president that started a new, dangerous and expensive arms race with Russia and China.
Screenshot of headline that reads "Scoop: U.S. and Russia agree to observe New START nuclear pact after expiration." Full text linked in reply.
