Federal agents cannot murder people in broad daylight and face zero consequences. I will NOT support the DHS bill as it stands. The DHS bill needs to be split off from the larger funding package before the Senate—Republicans must work with us to do that. I’ll keep fighting to rein in DHS and ICE.
This looks like an execution. There must be an investigation. There must be accountability. Joining ICE does not give you license to murder. The President is escalating the situation—and I have no faith he will stop. The Republican Congress must join us to end this. Enough.
There's money in Donald Trump’s America—not for health care, of course. But he'll find the money for a gilded arch, a ballroom, and whatever other vanity project he wants.
There was slavery in America—Trump trying to erase that history doesn't change the truth. And most of us realize it's important to teach future generations why slavery was WRONG. There's good & bad in  America's history, but we have to learn from all of it and live in REALITY.
The CDC's job is to monitor and prevent diseases. But now RFK Jr's handpicked deputy director says he "doesn't care" about whether or not measles is officially eliminated. This is about KIDS getting sick and even DYING  from something WE CAN PREVENT. Beyond despicable.
Yet another tired re-run of Russ Vought's corrupt playbook. He's threatening blue states in a naked act of political retribution. No one should be intimidated. Vought and Trump can kick rocks. This will not stand.
53 years after Roe v. Wade and Republicans are as committed as ever to ripping away a woman's right to make her own decisions about her body and her life. We cannot let them win—I won’t let them win. We must keep speaking out and using our voices to fight back.
This is horrifying beyond belief. No one in their right mind can see this and think it is ok. ICE is out of control. Don't let anyone look away and remind everyone that this Republican Congress could put a stop to this TODAY.
I visited the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center today to hear about how they'll use funding I secured to continue supporting survivors. Trump tried to slash funding to prevent violence against women—but I fought tooth and nail & we secured RECORD funding instead.
Canada is our friend and ally—and one of our biggest trading partners. Threatening Canada like this hurts America. Our citizens will pay for it—literally, as trade and travel plummet. Trust and friendship, by the way? Easy to damage, pretty hard to repair.
Trump: "Canada gets a lot of freebies from us. They should be grateful but they're not. He watched your prime minister yesterday. He wasn't so grateful. But they should be grateful to us. Canada. Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, next time you make your statements"
I got an update from local leaders & first responders about how King County is rebuilding from last month's devastating flooding. I look forward to supporting requests for federal disaster assistance to make sure our communities get the resources they need to recover.
Senator Murray is sitting at a U-shaped table configuration with 8 other people also sitting around it. Her arms are outstretched and she's facing the left and talking. Everyone is looking toward her. Behind the Senator and two men sitting at the bottom of the U there are three flags in the background: the American flag, the Washington state flag, and the King County flag.
Senator Murray is in the middle of the frame seated at a gray table. There is a man on either side of her. Behind them all are the American flag, the Washington state flag, and the King County flag.
Last year, Trump ripped away $500 MILLION from Howard Hanson Dam—critical for flood control, our water supply, & habitat restoration. Pure corruption. Well, I just passed the funding to get construction back on track. Don't mess with our water. Don't mess with our fish.
This is not a rational person. And this is deeply disturbing coming from an American President. NATO is not our enemy—they are unequivocally our closest friends and allies. At this point, how can you not call into question the mental fitness of this President?
These funding bills send a message to Trump: America WILL continue to fund cancer research, we WILL keep investing in affordable housing, we will NOT abolish the Department of Education—and Congress, not Trump, will have the final say on spending taxpayer dollars.
ICE must be reined in, and unfortunately, neither a CR nor a shutdown would do anything to restrain it, because, thanks to Republicans, ICE is now sitting on a massive slush fund it can tap whether or not we pass a funding bill. My full statement on the DHS funding bill.
Trump's petty attempt to erase MLK Jr. Day and replace it with his own birthday is not just an act of narcissism, but another example of this admin's efforts to stoke division & erase the history of this country. Let us honor & remember Dr. King for his work today and every day.
