The Trump Administration Department of Education and OMB are illegally withholding $7 billion in education funding, jeopardizing the success of millions of students. I'm leading 150 House Democrats in demanding answers.
I was pleased to sit down with officials from the City of South Fulton to discuss how federal programs can support their goals and priorities. With federal funding under attack, we must uplift every opportunity to assist the cities and counties I represent. Thanks for having me, South Fulton!
Last week's budget passed by Republicans will cut food assistance to families across America. No child should worry about where their next meal will come from. I visited Agape Atlanta to help serve lunch to summer camp students and stay in touch with some of my youngest constituents.
As search and rescue efforts continue in Texas, my heart breaks for families who are grieving the loss of a loved one and for all those who have been impacted by the flood. I am grateful for the continued efforts of public safety officials working around the clock.
A message for my constituents 🖤 Despite Democrats fighting against this bill all night and all of us voting NO, the Republicans forced it through anyway. This is a sad day for our nation. And still—we press forward.
Everyone deserves the chance to live a long and healthy life—this bill takes us further away from that dream while making Americans sicker. That is the reality Republicans voted for today.
I voted NO on the Republican megabill because health care is personal to me, as it is for so many in this country. Something as sacred as our family’s health should not be used as a bargaining chip.
The proposed cuts to Medicaid would further limit access to critical services and harm some of our nation's most vulnerable populations. This bill must be rejected.
More than 1 in 3 people living with a disability in America rely on Medicaid. Over 700,000 Americans with disabilities are already on a waiting list for Home & Community Based Services, which are funded by Medicaid.
Georgia has one of the worst rates of maternal health in the country. Nearly half of all births in Georgia are covered by Medicaid. At a time when over 40% of Georgia counties are considered maternal health care deserts, we cannot afford these cuts.
Over a million veterans rely on SNAP benefits. These are men and women who wore our nation's uniform who now rely on public assistance programs. We have an obligation to ensure that those who served our country can count on their government to assist them in their time of need.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social will continue to stand up for ALL veterans in America, and make sure they are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
The Trump Administration has already created enough chaos and uncertainty for our small business owners. Passing this bill would be devastating for millions of entrepreneurs and their employees.
This reconciliation bill cuts SNAP benefits for 42 million Americans depending on SNAP to feed their families. At a time when Georgia kids are already struggling due to the decision by our state government not to participate in the Summer EBT program, we can't afford more cuts.
Since Trump took office, the Republican majority has been pushing a budget plan that would kick millions of Americans off their health care. In Georgia alone, over 600,000 people will lose the care they need. This bill threatens the lives of my constituents. I'm voting no.
Make no mistake: this bill will throw millions of Americans off their health insurance. It will slash nutrition assistance for those who need it. And it will abandon the least of these in favor of more tax breaks for billionaires.
House Democrats are resolved in our fight against this disastrous bill. Overnight, we have remained on the floor, speaking up and standing out against the impacts this will have on families across America.
