I joined the League of Women Voters of South County today in Narragansett for a thoughtful conversation about protecting democracy, expanding access to the ballot, and the importance of civic engagement at every level.
I was grateful to join the American Legion’s Annual Department Convention in Warwick today to thank the veterans who continue to serve Rhode Island long after their time in uniform.
Their leadership and advocacy make a lasting difference for all who’ve served. 🇺🇸
Spotted in Rhode Island this morning.
The Ocean State gets it. We have to save Medicaid, save SNAP, save clean energy.
We have to Kill the Bill!
Several of us in Congress, Democrats and Republicans, are working to restore lifesaving food aid, but the administration is still dragging its feet.
Boston Globe has a good update today on what is happening:

NEW: @benniethompson.bsky.social and I are calling on Thomas Fugate—Trump’s 22-year-old pick to lead a counterterrorism office at Homeland Security—to testify before Congress in the wake of Trump’s strikes on Iran that raised threat levels in the US.
Foreign aid isn’t just charity.
It is about strengthening our alliances, bringing stability to fragile regions, and saving lives.
For the 24th time on the House floor I said: restore funding now.
Great to welcome Sen. Gu and @mackdistrict6.bsky.social to D.C. alongside @amo.house.gov.
It’s always a pleasure to welcome
Rhode Islanders to Washington - especially fantastic leaders like Tiara and Victoria!
Trump said that he would focus on deporting violent criminals.
The facts?
He deported a 4yo American child with cancer, a gay makeup artist seeking asylum, and a landscaper and father to three U.S. Marines. This must stop now.
Providing global food aid is not a Democrat or Republican issue.
Reagan expanded the Food for Peace Program. Bush II launched the largest global health initiative in history.
Trump claims he supports global food aid, but he is not delivering.
We cannot continue to wait.
If you know, you know: T.F. Green is one of the best airports in the country, and now it’s official–#6 nationwide, according to the Washington Post.
Proud moment for little Rhody! ✈️ 🌊

It’s true that we can’t solve every global crisis, but it's also undeniable that the work of Edesia Nutrition saves lives every day.
And right now, American-funded food aid sits in warehouses while children starve.
The Trump Admin must restore funding and get this aid moving.
10 years ago, love won.
On June 26, 2015, Obergefell v. Hodges made marriage equality the law of the land.
While we celebrate, we must keep fighting to protect this freedom.
Thank you to AARP RI for hosting an important conversation on protecting Social Security, expanding access to health care, and ensuring older Americans can age with dignity.
I will keep working in Congress to defend the rights and wellbeing of all seniors.
Food aid helps stabilize fragile regions, and it keeps our adversaries from gaining ground and goodwill.
I took to the House floor for the 22nd time to say: Restoring global food aid is a national security priority.
Met with the Rhode Island Domestic Violence Coalition advocates to talk about how we can better protect survivors and support the frontline organizations doing lifesaving work.
No one should feel unsafe in their own home, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure of that.
Three years ago, abortion rights were rolled back with the Dobbs decision, and the consequences have been dire.
We cannot rest until we restore and protect reproductive rights for all.
Important piece by @universityofri.bsky.social President Marc Parlange in @science.org.
The Trump admin’s attacks on research funding don't just hurt the Ivy League — they hurt state schools like URI, where groundbreaking work is being done every day.

Yesterday I celebrated World Refugee Day at the Refugee Dream Center in Providence with some of our newest Rhode Islanders.
From our very beginning as a state and country we have been a refuge for those fleeing persecution. It is who we have always been and must continue to be.
