Nobody elected Elon Musk yet Trump has handed him the keys to the federal govt. That’s unacceptable. That’s why I joined my colleagues today at the Treasury Dept. to exercise our oversight authority. Democrats are in this fight because you’ve sent us here to fight & that’s exactly what we’ll do.
As we continue celebrating Black History Month, it was an honor to join Elizabeth for their African American Flag Raising ceremony. I was proud to recognize the Nesbitt-Good family, whose 4 generations of service have uplifted the fight for equity, opportunity & justice in the Elizabeth community.
Removing information about equity and inclusion is more important to this administration than our constituents having access to information and resources about what the federal government can do for them. Breaking it to “fix it” is not a winning strategy or one we will accept.
As we celebrate Black History Month, we recognize that Black history is American history, and we honor those in @stateofnewjersey and across the country who have made this a reality. Their contributions are a reminder of why we must continue the fight for a more just and equal nation.
Congratulations to my friend, Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, on her selection as Speaker Pro Tempore of the General Assembly! Annette is a passionate advocate for the people of the City of Elizabeth and Union County, and it’s truly a privilege to work with her in support of our community.
Great time getting to call bingo w/ Jersey City seniors. And during our visit, we had the chance to update them on the Trump funding freeze & answer their questions abt potential impacts to the programs and services they most rely on. Grateful for the chance to listen, learn & for the hospitality!
Great to see Hudson County Community College increase their enrollment by 10.5%! Their focus on quality education, affordability, and career-focused programs (incl. cybersecurity) is clearly working. Our office will continue to uplift their work and support their mission!
Proud to join Mayor Grilo in presenting $500K for the East Newark Recreation Center! This funding will support much-needed improvements and enhance the overall experience for our community. Excited for the positive changes ahead!
Devastating to hear of the crash of Flight 5342 & a U.S. Army Helicopter at DCA. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all impacted. Thank you to the first responders. As we learn more, we must ensure this doesn’t happen again & that American aviation continues to lead in safety.
President Trump’s freeze on federal aid has been temporarily blocked, but the fight isn't over. If this goes through, millions in NJ could lose healthcare, housing, and critical services. Read our statement & take our survey below to let us know how Trump's plan could impact you. 🔗 bit.ly/42Ajouq
The Trump Administration is openly targeting the LGBTQ+ community by banning transgender service members & limiting essential healthcare. As their rights are under attack, we must stand with ALL Americans. That’s why I visited the Hudson Pride Center to support their important work.
ICE recently conducted a raid in our district, inflicting fear and undermining our Constitution. And while we worry there could be more, we won’t sit by idly. That’s why we're demanding answers from the Trump admin. We will always stand with our community especially during these challenging times.
Today, on what would have been Congressman Bill Pascrell’s birthday, we honor his legacy as a tireless advocate for New Jersey. I’m grateful to have called him a friend & I will always cherish our time together—his wisdom, passion & dedication are deeply missed. His impact will never be forgotten.
Newark is an inclusive community with ppl from different backgrounds & a community I’m proud to represent w/ Rep. LaMonica McIver. While the Trump admin seeks to instill fear into our communities, we’ll stand w/ our friends, family & neighbors. We are in this together. Watch👇 youtu.be/UlEXnVjdU04
The killing of Laken Riley was an unspeakable tragedy. Undocumented immigrants who commit felonies already face the full legal system. The problem w/ the bill passed today is that it erodes civil liberties & undermines the right to due process, going against our Constitution. That's why I voted NO.
52 years after Roe v. Wade, the GOP is once again pushing a bill that attacks reproductive freedom—criminalizing doctors and interfering with personal medical decisions. @housedemocrats.bsky.social will always stand strong to protect your right to choose, today and every day.
In the last 24 hours, President Trump signed orders that: 🚫Raise drug costs 🚫Block LEGAL entry into the U.S. 🚫Weaken environmental protections 🚫Attack birthright citizenship @housedemocrats.bsky.social remain focused on the issues we hear about most—affordability & the needs of everyday people.
Our Constitution is the law of the land, and President Trump does not have the power to unilaterally change it. Birthright citizenship is a right enshrined in the 14th Amendment—no executive order can override it.
Martin Luther King Jr. embodied the fight for civil rights & his legacy will forever be honored for generations to come. I’m committed to ensuring that his work toward equality, justice & opportunity continues to inspire & drive progress for all. Wishing everyone a meaningful & reflective MLK Day.
