Seniors, children, rural communities and more will suffer because of it.
Before Surry Market opened 11 months ago, Surry County had no grocery store for nearly 25 years. Becoming a SNAP/EBT retailer helps them provide fresh food to the community, especially seniors.
SNAP cuts will hit rural communities like Surry particularly hard.

August recess provides an opportunity to meet with community leaders to connect my work in Congress to the people we serve.
Today, I held a roundtable with faith leaders in Surry to discuss how the Big Ugly Law will impact rural communities.
Even after a 16-month hospital stay, Rev. Washington continued serving his country. As a Chaplain Assistant and now hospice chaplain, he has offered support for hundreds of service members and their families.
To him and so many others across our district and nation: thank you!
